This is extremely exciting news for us fighting fans. Two of the greatest franchises in the fighting genre, coming to Wii via a collection. Knowing SNKP past however, all of the games in the series will most likely not be avaliable (especially the King of Fighters Collection).

This would go good for those who don't have the VC, or do have the VC and want these games for a cheaper price. I just hope that SNKP can find some way for use to download the games from the disc, onto the Wii Menu.

With all these compilation discs coming out, SNKP is practically killing the VC versions (something similar to what Sega did). I'm going to wait now and see if these compilation are worth it; in other words, if they have all the games (if they have only part of it, if they are at least organized and several compilations are planned), the emulation is perfect, it has support for the classic controller (the main reason why I have avoided the Metal Slug Anthology), among others.

If that's the case, too bad, I'm not going to waste my money on the VC versions.

I'd heard something about a NG compilation yesterday, but hadn't heard which games were involved. I find it really strange that they're putting out a compilation disc and releasing games for the VC--unless of course there's no overlap of games. That's the only thing that would make sense. Why compete against yourself? Very odd. So do you think that means no KoF or SS games via the VC? Sounds like you two guys think they still might be coming for the VC, too? Heh weird!

Either way seems like it's relatively safe to download Fatal Fury if it comes out on Monday. I was thinking of waiting to see if it was going to be on the compilation, but since that doesn't seem to be the case I'll probably get it.

I think the same games on the collections will release on the VC, just at a later date. King of FIghters 94 will be released on the VC because it's not part of a series except it's own. Fatal Fury is safe because SNKP already release the first collection that had that game on it for the PS2.

ROFL!!!! Holy crap, I guess everyone thinks I'm mentally challenged after the horrible spelling job I did on this thread title.

:D The excitement got to me.

I fixed it for ya.

:p

...But... I've got a pretty reliable source that tells me we're NOT getting Neo Geo games this Monday... oh well...

Nor Sin and Punishment. Let's just say we may be playing catch-up with a certain title, we know about Legend of Tonma, and the third game is, well... I think I've actually pretty much revealed it already. D:

Please don't tell me we are getting Burger time!
Playing catch-up? Then there are only 5 games that I would consider:
  • Megaman
  • Alien Storm
  • Pilotwings
  • Pro Wrestling
  • Zombies ate my neighbors
The first one, Megaman, because it was released a long time ago in Europe (June to be exact). And the other four because they were added to the ESRB website a least 6 months ago, and they're still there.

If I had to pick, I would say it's Megaman (just like I posted in my predictions for next Monday in the Worldwide VC Releases thread). Check next Monday to see that I got it wrong.

Well, I mean games that are already released in other territories that we're gonna get... Well, one game in particular...

Oh, I had forgotten about two SNES games that were released in Europe: Kirby's Avalanche and Vegas Stakes. Since one SNES game HAS to come out this month (or else it would be the first month without SNES games), I just hope it's not Vegas Stakes. If it's Kirby, great.

Tell me about it Infinity, however, the compliations that's being release was released in Japan years ago. SNKP USA is just catching up. That King of Fighters compilation has KOF 95-97 on it (doesn't have what's considered the best KOF, KOF 98). I'm trying to see what Samurai Shodown Collection has, it seems like it has them all, even the newest 2D game that was released. These games had online play over in Japan, so if they don't gimp the games like they did the collections that were released on the PS2 (Fatal Fury Battle Archives 1 and Art of Fighting) then I'll just rather buy the collection myself. (Which is amazing considering I rather buy VC games, I don't like collections).

As I said before though, I hope they allow these games to be downloaded to the Wii Menu, because that's the main thing I love about the VC games.
I completely forgot that I was going to make a comment about your post. It's true that the compilations were released in Japan a while ago (on the PS2 and with online mode, right?), but this seems to be an awkward moment to be releasing them here when you're about to start releasing games in the VC.

So the KOF compilation is the Orochi Saga. Maybe KOF 94 will be packed with KOF '98 and KOF '02 (even though the last two are dream matches and KOF '94 is not, they are the only games that are not part of a saga). I'm guessing there will be a NESTS Saga compilation later on.

If I remember correctly, there is already a NEST compilation out there, lol. Yeah, it doesn't make sense for them to put it on the Wii when they have the VC, however, we don't know when these titles will release. The press release is for 2007/2008 titles so those compilations will probably release towards the end of the year next year. What SNKP will probably do is try to put each title on the VC to make money from there, and then release the compilation to make even more money. I just hope the compilations aren't gimp from online play.
About the NESTS compilation, are you talking about America or Japan? I bet there's one already in Japan, but I don't think I've heard of anything like that here.
