So how do the Amiibo cards affect everything?

Honestly I think the cards are adorable and I want them all, but I want to know how badly I need them.
Overall, what I mean is do I need the Amiibo cards right away or are there enough villagers in the game to satisfy? (I haven't found any info on this so.)

I feel like this is just a cheap shot at making money, even if the cards are cute.

So can anyone help me out? Thanks

You don't need the cards for anything besides inviting villagers places, and designing special npc homes. there is still nearly 400 villagers to design for so you have plenty of content without them. I'm just big on collecting so I want them lol

Oh thank you! From what I heard though is that there are 400 cards as well? (Maybe its false info I mean the game just came out)

there's only 100 cards in the first set, but future sets may very well bump it up to 400

I just discovered that an awful lot of the villagers requesting homes outside the office actually don't have amiibo cards yet. I started making a list of the homes I have done and compared it to the list of the first series of amiibo cards and out of the 53 villager homes I have built so far, 31 of them don't have cards yet! If every home gives you new stuff to use I am thinking there is TONS of furniture and stuff yet to come.
