Day 107. I am mad. I had half of is blog written, but then I accidentally exited out of the page T_T So I get to rewrite it, YAY! So first off, sorry I haven't blogged in awhile. I've been having uber late nights, early mornings, and haven't been feeling up to blogging. Regardless, being four days behind, I'm going to force myself to become motivated to blog once more and catch up! So let's begin this catchup. Nothing happened at school today, so I'm going to talk all about my solo contest today. At 4:15, after a half hour of practicing, I went to school to partake in the contest. I was the first one to perform (at 4:30). After meeting the judge and letting him prepare, I began my solos. My first one was a timpini solo called Rondola. It involved a bunch of rolls and changing keys (for those timpini players out there who know all about that) I think I did okay on it, but I paused in the middle of the song to tune it, which probably demoted my points. The next song was for the snare drum. It was called Flim-Flam. It involved a BUNCH of flams, obviously. For those who don't drum, flams are when you hit both drum sticks on the snare at almost the same time. I did alright, but my drum wasn't tightened enough, which probably was his biggest complaint on that one. My final song was Rudimental Ragtime, which was a fun marimba song. I played this with a teacher who accompanied me on the piano. This song was a ton of fun to play, and I really loved it. I think I did the best on this one, because he really didn't have any complaints. I got three blue ribbons for my solos (red is okay, blue is good) So I'm pretty stoked about that. I also took place in an ensamble with the rest of the percussionists, which went well (also got a blue ribbon) After all the solo stuff, I went out to eat with my dad and brother (mom was working) then came home and pretty much did nothing. I am so glad this is done, because it caused me a ton of nerves and stres... But I'm also going to miss it. Oh well, positives outweigh the negatives here! So that's pretty much it for today. Tune in tomorrow for more catch up blogs... And until then, seeya!
Question of the day: Ever took place in a solo contest at school?

stress* ;)
QOD: Um, no. But I did participate in a lip sync competition, which I did with three of my close friends. We lip synced and danced (I just danced with two of my friends and the other lip synced and danced.) to We R Who We R by Kesha. It was pretty fun, but we messed up a lot and didn't get a prize. :/
