Some animals don't appear in the city...

I've noticed some animals don't appear in the city and you can't have them as starting animals. Why is this, and is there a complete list of these animals anywhere?

They always do not like to go out in Winter. I guess they will appear again after several monthes.

Hm, I had no idea about this! Though, I will admit I've never seen any monkeys in the city, tohugh it could just be me not remembering. XD

I don't think I've seen monkeys anyway.

I saw Champ. He counts as a primate. When I saw him I was like, Grandpa!!!

Some just appear occasionally for me.

We have two monkeys, Champ and Simon! I've never seen any monkeys in the city! We've been playing City Folk since it came out!
It took us a long time to get them both! We are soooo lucky!

Though it all might just be random! Most everything is, from my experience in Animal Crossing!
