I must have burned through 200+ bait trying to catch the darn thing, with no luck whatsoever. I have every other Northern Hemisphere March fish, including 10+ Coelacanth and 4 Golden Trout, but no Char at all.

I need a friend to walk me back from the ledge! I've tried highest cliff, middle cliff, not a cliff. I've tried the river, the ponds, the waterfall. I've tried voodoo, witchcraft, and every swear word known to man.

HELP!!!!!!!

the char is in fact a march fish - it can only be found on the clifftop rivers. here’s a picture of it’s critterpedia page, if that’d help at all:

i’ve had the most luck on the second cliff’s river but some fish are real difficult lol - good luck!

I used 50 bait and caught 2 on the 3rd cliff, in the river. Of course, I was trying for a String fish.. I still haven't caught one of those.

But honestly, if it's driving you too crazy, take a break for a while. Take a couple days off to enjoy other parts of the game or just fishing for fun. The char will still be in season for a long time yet.

It is a March fish in the Northern Hemisphere. I've caught several. I think everyone has that one fish that just eludes them for no good reason right now.

If it makes you feel any better, it's available until June. I'm struggling with the Stringfish and Sturgeon which both disappear at the end of the month. I've used dozens of bait in those areas and never even seen shadows big enough to be those fish...

It took me a ton of time to find it... But it does exist! And you have until June to find it, luckily.

I got one over 100 baits before I got the golden trout, so don't despair!

My frustrations are facetious in nature. I just needed moral support in this moment.

I've only caught one Stringfish, and probably 3 or 4 Sturgeon. It's the darn Char. Anyone recall the shadow size? Is it Black Bass or Yellow Perch?

I had not used any bait and was able to catch two just going back and forth through my cliffside area (tiers two and three) and catching anything that spawned, as I was saving for the loan. If you are totally sure the fish are not what you are looking for, scaring them away will be more time effective. If you put an hour or two aside for it each day you will likely have one soon. ^^

Got him!!! I knew if I vented out loud, it would work! You all are the best!

The char is pretty rare. It's not as bad as the stringfish or the golden trout, but it's definitely up there. I think I've only found 2 or 3 total. Meanwhile I've only found 1 stringfish and 1 golden trout.

Right there with you about the Stringfish (caught one, and I think I let one get away), but I've caught 4 golden trout. My buddy is having a hard time locating the large ocean fish, and I've still only caught one barreleye.

It is a March fish! I've been trying to get one for days. 4 stringfish and 3 golden trouts later, I finally caught one tonight
It has a pretty big shadow, and I got it on my island's second level.
Now to catch the blue marlin ;-;

I spent around 150 baits trying to get a stringfish because it will be gone after march. In that time I got like 3 char. Now I'm wondering if I should go back up there to get a golden trout after reading these comment. I have't seen one of those and I used around 150 baits!

No bait caught in mountain river. Didn't realize I was missing him :D

You'll catch one. Don't try too hard!
