I was sending out some cards today and decided I would put the 7-11 set on the cards, I had already packaged and sealed all the envelopes and decided to see if the 3DS would read Amiibo cards through envelopes... it does :p I thought It was humorous!

so If you ever forget to put something on your card, don't open it up haha

Yeah, they can be read through thin material. I used the card that my game came with through its plastic. I still haven't bothered to open it since I don't need to to use it.

does that mean you can scan amiibo cards through their packets in store?

oo that would be cool if they did. you could be super sneaky while at stores and scan them to see if the pack has the card you want :p

Sounds like a cool life hack as I would say. If you're unsure if the trader brought the wrong amiibo card, you can do that trick and send it back to the owner without any damage on the envelope.

It's just like with credit cards that have the contactless paying feature. I never have to get the card out of the purse because it will scan through the purse. Really funny.

I don't think scanning amiibo cards through the packs works though since there are 3/6 cards in each pack.

Just tested it out (With cards I already bought!) Put them back in the amiibo wrapper AND the cardboard packaging, card wouldn't scan. Took off the cardboard, card still wouldn't scan. Took off the amiibo wrapper and put them back in the cardboard and the card scanned perfectly. I'm guessing it has something to do with the shiny aluminum-y wrapper it's in
