Yay a new Sonic game, I hope it doesn't SUCK like the newer games. I actually never bothered to get hyped for this game, so I had no idea what to expect when I played the demo (except for the fact that I can play as Tails <3)... And this is how it turned out...
GAMEPLAY
Oh god why, the controls are so bad. The game feels like it's way more puzzle oriented. That's not bad, but really? Who wants to play tedious puzzles in a Sonic game, A GAME ABOUT SPEED. Sure once in a while puzzles are ok, but when it's over and over again it's just not fun... The character switching mechanic is "ok" yet the speed never feels real. Such as, when I'm trying to speed past a level, a wild wall appears and I crash into the wall and have to waste 6 seconds to jump over the darn thing. Think that's fun? Watching a episode of Cailou would be better than having to deal with that shiz. The enerbeam feels awkward to use, the main reason for this is because the controls, like mentioned before, SUCK. For example
I use B to jump and A to use the enerbeam, sure it doesn't seem that bad, yet when your trying to zip past a level you almost always forgot and instead use a homing attack... It might be just me though...
STORY
The demo has no storyline what so ever so now I have to google it. Ok, so, what I learned is that Amy learns some language and gets kidnapped. Then they have to save her, that's the basics. (I didn't want to spoil everything if you actually wanted to get it).
HOW REWARDING IT FEELS
Meh, the rings don't feel that important, then again I only played the demo so... Ya.
OVERALL EXPERINCE
I admire SEGA for attempting to create a new type of Sonic spinoff game, I respect that. Yet they failed at it (for me), based on the demo I wouldn't actually buy this game, I feel that if the creators but more effort into speed this could've been an awesome game.
DEMO RATING: 5/10
