Star Fragment Trees

Hello,

I recently heard about the existence of hacked star fragment trees and that they were patched out. Can someone tell me more?

Star Fragment Trees haven't been around for well over a year now as far as I'm aware, nor have people discovered ways to make them again.

I believe they used to exist due to people modifying the item ID of what was on bell bag trees to have the bells replaced by well, star fragment pieces. The pieces wouldn't regrow or anything so if you shook your tree they would come off and never return. It was very much a cosmetic hack just to have little stars on growing on your trees.

Honestly the whole thing was pretty harmless, but all the drama around them likely made Nintendo patch them out. People were getting pretty heated over them and there was also the issue of people selling them online for cash. I know there were also rumours of them breaking your game, but those turned out to be fake as far as I recall.

I've never had star fragment trees personally so I can't give you more details than that. All of this is just what I remember from back then. tbh I don't think there is much else to say on them either.
