Last time on the Winter Carnival, Kaylee met Mica when he arrived, but more people came in. As a result, they decided upon a party event they can host. Holly's idea was that they have a winter carnival, so they split up in teams to discuss plans. Now it's time for the next one. When you're about to build a fairground for the first time or an amusement park, plans must be made in conferences. Fortunately, I didn't have to attend a conference to write my fanfic.

Issue #2: Preparing for the Carnival

After all the groups split up, they had to come up with different names. They were all named after animations in collectable toys. Holly's team was called The Rocks to represent the animation of projectiles. The team color was red. Penny's team was called The Machines to represent the animation of motion. The team color was green. Jenny's team was called The Headphones to represent sound rather than animation or projectiles. The team color was blue. Finally, Kaylee's team was named The LEDs, which is named after light. The team color was yellow.

The Rocks' duty was to discuss what contests should be in the carnival. Their conference is in the back room of Kaylee's house. Kaylee suggests that there should be a champion tournament, but she lets the Headphones take care of that.

"Alright citizens of Inertia!" said Holly, "we're ready to discuss StarFall's contests. According to Kaylee, there should be eight contests total. Just because they are suggested doesn't mean they are accepted. Please suggest as many as you can."

"Do you have any suggestions too?" asked Helen.

"You guys come up with the suggestions," said Holly. "I will track what you write and give notes to Lola when we're done. Remember, the contests have to be winter themed, safe, and not too easy."

"A winter carnival won't be fun without a snowman building contest," said Matthew. "There's no purpose of having a winter carnival without playing with snow."

"Okay," said Holly. "That sounds like a good idea. What else?"

"How about a Christmas Tree decorating contest?" asked Charlie.

"But Christmas is already over," said Holly. "The winter carnival will take place in February. Go ahead and suggest it, but there's guarantee that it will be rejected."

"I'm still not giving up," said Charlie.

"Speaking of February," said Helen, "how about a Valentine's Day related contest? We can donate roses and chocolates and see who the first person is."

"I don't see how Valentine's Day has a potential of having a contest," said Holly, "but I'll try having one in the ideas."

"Does a snowball rolling contest work?" asked Matthew.

"Great idea," said Holly. "You sure know a lot about the winter theme neutral to its holidays. It would be best if we didn't have Christmas contests, Valentine's contests, or New Year's contests."

"Here's another idea," said Charlie. "How about a snowmobile designing contest?"

"Sounds unique," said Holly. "Let me track that in my notes."

"And what about a winter cook-off?" asked Helen.

"Wonderful!" said Holly. "I bet Lola would love that."

"Isn't Kaylee the host?" asked Helen.

"Yes," said Holly, "but her team has their duties too. They pick up our notes. Lola is to the Rocks, Oscar is to the Machines, and Mica is to the Headphones. We may have six suggestions, but I reccommend 24 so one thirds of our ideas are accepted."

The three regular members suggested 18 more contests. Matthew's ideas were a skiing race, a sledding race, a snowboarding race, a snowball fight, an igloo building contest, and a winter treasure hunt. Charlie's ideas were a present gathering contest, a gingerbread house making contest, a North Pole laser tag, a Christmas music contest, an ice sculpture carving contest, and a snowmobile race. Helen's ideas are the lodge designing contest, the winter fishing contest, the winter dance contest, the ice skating race, the hot chocolate drinking contest, and the winter carnival ultimate trivia.

The Machines' job was to talk about the rides. Their conference was in Penny's cabin room. While the boys sat at the kitchen island table, the girls sat at the regular table.

"Okay boys and girls," said Penny. "I am Penny, your team leader. According to Kaylee, we should be focusing on the rides. We want at least 12 ride suggestions, but we only have enough Bells for four. Remember, anything winter related is fine, but it's best to stay neutral and to the winter theme. Tell me what name would you give the rides and what ride type is it."

"Can we do coasters?" asked Joey.

"Yes we can," said Penny. "Since we have time travelers, we can build a nice one really quick without safety issues. What is the coaster about?"

"It's a metal coaster that goes inside and outside the cave," said Joey. "It starts inside, but there are segments you are high in the mountain. I call this 'Winter Mountain'."

"Is there going to be loops or corkscrews?" asked Penny. "I like scary rides, but I'm afraid of going upside down."

"No," said Joey.

"Approved!" said Penny. "But remember, we only have room for only one roller coaster, and since this one is themed, I doubt it will be rejected. You can have inversions, but I'm scared of them."

"I have another idea for us," said Zoey. "It's called Cave Dweller, and you're inside an ice cave the entire time. You ride boats inside a nice icy cavern where you can see the wonders of the winter."

"I don't think the land we can get is big enough for both," said Penny, "but then again, we can have only four rides at the carnival. I'm aiming for 12 ride suggestions."

"How about Reindeer-go-Round?" asked Lenny. "It's a carousel with Christmas elements like reindeer and sleighs."

"Creative idea," said Penny, "but that's not what we're looking for. I'll add to notes for Oscar, but chances of rejection is high."

For the rest of the ideas, the Machines came up with smaller rides. Joey suggested The Blizzard (fairground twister ride), Hot Cocoa Cups (variation of teacup ride), and Snow Cups (another variation). Zoey suggested Snowmobile Adventures (motion simulator), Icicle Wheel (Ferris Wheel), and Snowy Rocket (launched freefall). Lenny suggested Arctic Voyage (pirate ship), Snow-nado (tilt-a-whirl), and Winter-Putt (mini-golf).

The Headphones' task is to discuss other events at the carnival. The conference was right at the table in the ranch room of Jenny's house.

"Conference is now in session," said Jenny. "As my best friend is taking care of the rides as Holly takes care of the contests, I'm here to discuss what other events. One thing Kaylee wants us to do is to talk about ideas for a tournament where the eight first place winners challenge against to where we have only one winner. Let's discuss that first."

"Here's my idea," said Kenny. "How about we have a stadium with some ice rink. We have bumper cars that leave a glow trail. Any car that passes loses points, but the one leaving the trail gains points. There are four modes to it."

"Now that's a winner!" said Jenny. "In fact, Kaylee did say that she made a bumper car that creates an ephemeral glow on ice with advanced technology while on break. We can finally utilize those cars. Now let's come up with some other events. We should have six ideas, but only three will be accepted. What do you like?"

"One idea I have is the carnival games," said Tracy. "Maybe they don't want to participate in contests or ride the rides. Some carnival games would be good. Maybe six games would be enough."

"Okay," said Jenny. "If we have carnival games, we need at least 12 suggestions for carnival games, but like you said, we should have six."

"We should serve food at the carnival too," said Zoey. "Maybe a lodge where we can all eat lunch for winter cooking."

"That's my favorite idea here," said Jenny. "As you see, I am a master chef at age 21, and I am very good at cooking. I need a place to work too. I'm better at cooking than engineering or being a referee."

"Here's another idea," said Kenny. "An ice skating rink. What kind of winter carnival is it without one?"

"Good idea," said Jenny. "What others do you have?"

"My second idea is a storytelling center," said Tracy. "An igloo where you can hear winter stories."

"My second idea is a ski center," said Stacy. "Do you like to attend a winter carnival without skiing?"

"My second idea is the game lodge," said Kenny. "A lodge where you can play board games or video games."

"That's it!" said Jenny. "We got our own six events and Champion Tournament ideas. But since one of them is a variety of many events, let's discuss carnival games before we turn in our notes."

Other than Jenny, everyone in the Headphones team had four carnival game ideas. Tracy's games are ball toss, ring toss, frog toss, and balloon darts. Stacy's games are the fishing game, strength tower, duck shoot, and a winter variation of basketball. Kenny's game ideas are knock the bottles, snowmobile race, coin toss, and buried treasure.

After the Rocks, the Machines, and the Headphones' conferences on ideas, Lola, Oscar, and Mica picked up the notes for the LEDs' conference, where they approve of what ideas are going to be in the carnival.
