This is the fifth entry on my StarFall fanfics, and the 1/4 mark of my first fanfic. Like I said before, most of them would be on the contests. The first one is on the Snowman Building Contest, which is the day contest on February 9th, 2015 (in the story). Introduction is over, the story continues now:
On February 9th, the second day of the carnival, the contests have begun. Like normal, the carnival opens at 10:00 AM, but the Snowman Building Contest begins at 11:00 AM. While almost everybody were eager to get on the rides, ice skating rink, or carnival games, the squirrels were in line for the Snowman Building Contest. They stood infront of the stone doors that were part of the 10-foot high stone walls that border the arena for the contest. At 10:55, Holly climbed up the watchtower with a microphone. She makes a five minute announcement.
"Thank you for signing up for the Snowman Building Contest!" said Holly as she voices the stadium intercom. "In this contest, there will be five rounds. All eight of you will build snowmen that follow the guidelines. Each one of you will be ranked based on how well done you were, how you followed the guidelines, and the creativity and originality. Everyone will get points that are always factors of 40. The better you place, the more points you will get for the round. The animal with the most points by the end of each round wins the contest. The top three winners will get trophies, ribbons, and discounts to both the rides and carnival games. Top two will get prizes, and the winner gets an advantage to participating in Friday's contest. The gates will now open."
The stone gates opened at 11:00 AM. Caroline, Filbert, Hazel, Marshal, Peanut, Sheldon, Blaire, and Static, all ran into the arena. After they all went inside, the gates have closed, and Holly makes another announcement.
"Alright! First round is to build any snowman as you like. However, it has to be an actual snowman. Build anything else, and you will be ranked lower. There is a box of decorations you can decorate your snowman with. Do you want to build a snowman? Then start!"
All the squirrels had 40 minutes to build a snowman. Each one of them had to roll snowballs to make one. Blaire's ideal snowman was a snowman that eats carrots than have a carrot nose. A button nose was needed to make the snowman. Static wanted to make a giant snowman so he could add more detail and show more skill. Peanut wanted to build a snowman, decorating with only peanuts. Sheldon's ideal snowman was to have a summer theme rather than winter. Hazel wanted to make an upside down snowman with a smaller abdomen and a larger head. Marshal wanted a squared snowman. Caroline wanted to make a snow-woman rather than a snowman. And Filbert wanted to make a baby snowman.
While the squirrels tried building their snowmen, Sheldon was being selfish as he tried to cheat to win. Static worked really hard on his snowman, and he built the best one. One minute before the judging began, Sheldon picked up a snowball and threw it at Static's snowman, causing it to collapse. Static got angered really easily. Marshal was the only one who had no conflict with Sheldon. Hazel got into a fight with him so he couldn't cheat or ruin anyone's fun time. When he destroyed Static's snowman, Hazel tackled him. Static tried to re-build, but it was too late.
When the judging came, Holly had to judge snowmen. She was disappointed in Static for not having any snowman at all and ranked him in last place. He told the truth about why he didn't have a snowman. The other squirrels even exposed Sheldon. Blaire revealed that she wanted to win, but she admitted that Static's snowman was more superior without being angry at him (Static). Holly was still stubborn of changing his rank, but she automatically ranked Sheldon's snowman in 7th place for cheating. Blaire won first place for having the most creative snowman. Caroline was in second place, Marshal was in third. Hazel scored fourth place. Peanut was in fifth. And if Sheldon never ruined Static's snowman, Filbert would be in last place, but he was saved by moving up two places. The scores were read as this:
Blaire - 40 points
Caroline - 20 points
Marshal - 10 points
Hazel - 8 points
Peanut - 5 points
Filbert - 4 points
Sheldon - 2 points
Static - 1 point
The second round was a little tricky. Instead of building just a snowman, they have to build a snowman in action, like sports or recreation. Blaire built a snowman on a snowboard. Caroline had a snowman on a snowmobile. She even made the snowmobile out of snow, and used food coloring to design the snowmobile. Marshal made a snowman that was skiing. Hazel's snowman had a paddle ball in one hand with winter goggles and ski hat. Peanut's had a jetpack, where the jetpack was made of snow. Filbert had a snowman on ice skates. Sheldon had a snowman on a sleigh. And Static had a snowman playing golf.
During the second round, everyone was mad at Sheldon as they're seeking revenge for what he did to Static. And Holly had to watch the whole time this time. Five minutes before the judging, Marshal threw a snowball at Sheldon's snowman, causing it to fall off the sleigh. Sheldon was about to tackle Marshal for it, but Peanut tackled Sheldon before he could attack Marshal.
When Holly did the judging, the top three remained to be the same three, but only with Marshal in first place and Blaire in third place. Sheldon yelled that Marshal cheated, but Holly supported Marshal because Sheldon cheated earlier. Sheldon was in last place for having no snowman. Hazel was in second to the last place. And Static was in sixth place.
The third round was about snow animals instead of snowmen. They have to build an animal out of snow. Marshal made a polar bear out of snow. Caroline had a penguin in winter outfit, but only out of snow. Blaire made a model of herself out of snow. Filbert made a snow fish. Peanut made a snow bunny. Static made a snow crab. Hazel made a snow beast. Sheldon made a snow mouse, but was unfinished.
After the turmoil in the second round, Sheldon wanted to get revenge. He threw a snowball at Peanut. He threw another snowball, but at Hazel. Then he threw a huge snowball at Marshal for ruining his creation in the second round. Marshal was sent to the First Aid center immediately as Caroline finished Marshal's polar bear. Holly issued a time out to Sheldon for his poor behavior.
By the time the judging came in, Caroline was still in second place as Marshal got back third place. Static was ultimately granted first place after being the most creative. It was a snow crab with crab eating utensils nearby, made all out of snow. Because of Sheldon's time out, his losing streak still continued.
The fourth round was to make a group of smaller snowmen than one snowman. Static made a bunch of snowmen in a circle as if they were summoning. Caroline made a snowman family with more detail. Marshal returned, and made two snowmen on a ski lift. Blaire had two snowmen fighting each other. Filbert had a bunch of snow babies. Hazel had two snowmen playing teeter totter. Peanut had an army of soldier snowmen. And Sheldon had a snowman and snow-woman as a couple. No conflict was in the fourth round, but Sheldon was very bitter. When the judging came, Caroline still could not have the potential of getting first place, so she got second place again. Peanut boosted up to first place. Marshal still got third place. And Sheldon still got last place.
The final round was in the last 48 minutes of the contest. The purpose is to make an ice sculpture of a snowman, otherwise known as an iceman. Peanut carved a model of a human out of ice. Caroline carved a snowman that looks a lot more decorative than a regular snowman, but all made of ice. Marshal carved a model of himself. Filbert carved a snowman with an ice pick in one hand. Blaire carved a model of Holly. Hazel redone her first round snowman, but only out of ice rather than snow. Static carved a regular snowman. And Sheldon did a square snowman.
On the last judging, Filbert got first place. Caroline was in second place. Marshal was in third place. Sheldon was in last place. When the scores tallied up, the overall scores were:
Caroline - 100 points
Marshal - 80 points
Blaire - 67 points
Filbert - 61 points
Peanut - 57 points
Static - 49 points
Hazel - 27 points
Sheldon - 9 points
As a result of the contest, Caroline was in first place, despite never going there at all. She was qualified for the Champion Tournament on Friday. She also got a golden snowman trophy, a blue ribbon, and an inflatable snowman. Marshal got a silver snowman trophy, a red ribbon, and a 3-D tissue model of a snowman. Blaire got a bronze snowman trophy and a yellow ribbon. Due to Sheldon's inappropriate behavior, he was expelled from the winter carnival for the rest of the week.
