Story of Seasons for the Switch

I’m really excited! I’ve enjoyed the past two handheld Story of Seasons, but they’re always able to do so much more with the console versions, so I’ve been waiting for one for awhile.

I know it’s probably not going to happen, but I really hope they bring back rival marriages lol. Or at least some way to make the town continue to feel alive after main storyline completion/marriage.

Yeah this was initially announced back in 2017 when they had that big Switch info blowout. Was thinking at first that the project turned into Rune Factory 5, but then that weird crossover game was announced back in the Direct and thought that may have been the Story of Seasons project. Glad that they clarified it for us. Having all of those farming sim franchises all active on the Switch is fantastic.

I think they DID do a weird crossover Story of Seasons project with Doraemon for some reason. But this one is straight up Story of Seasons and I am so excited. My husband is so sick of me playing farming sims all the time, lol!

Yeah that's what I was referring to. A lot of people thought that it was the SoS project that they announced a few years back.

THISSSSSS. That's one of my favorite parts of these Harvest Moon-esque games, especially in Harvest Moon 64. I loved seeing all of the other bachelors and bachelorettes get married and have kids. It was so sweet and really made me feel like I made a difference in the town, since my friendship was responsible for all their marriages, lol.

Yes! I loved their post-marriage events as well, so even in games where they didn’t have their own kids at least you had those to look forward to.

I know om Fogu a couple years back someone translated an interview, I think it was with Hashimoto, and basically he said that the reason rival marriages were done away with was because male players were frustrated when their rivals got the better of them, and female players always felt like the rivals were better suited to the bachelor, so they’d basically capitulate to them and not marry anyone lol. I guess the latter I can kind of understand, but so many of the newer games had systems put in place where it was pretty difficult to get the rivals married against your wishes unless you were just playing absolutely, completely blind. But I feel like they’re definitely more interested in appealing to their Japanese fans (understandable), so unless things have changed on that front, I’m predicting no rival marriages. :(

Aww beans, that sucks. I think the rival stuff is really cute. It would be nice if they could put in an option where you could turn rival events on and off, that way they'd still be there for those of us who want them. I really hate the fact that only one young person in the town gets married. It just seems like that means the town will die in a generation.
