Has anyone caught a stringfish yet? I would love some advice. I am getting antsy because this is the last monthy to catch one. I read they are only found in cliff pools and I have been using bait to try for one but no luck so far. I would love to hear where you found one and if you did anything special to catch it.

try the very top third cliff pool. i just caught mine tonight. the shadows are rather large.

because fish rarely spawn in the third tier pool, heres what i did, though some might consider it cheaty? i gathered up like 10 fish bait, saved, and then reopened the game and dumped it in the water. if no big fish came up id reset and re-use the same bait. i did this to get the sturgeon, too. thatd be my advice.

edit** also just clarifying i mean the pool at the top of the river, not a separate pond.

I've got 61 bait saved up to try and catch the rare river fish. I knocked out all the ocean dwellers, just need those freshwater creatures.

I caught one tonight on my first level of cliff, it was in a circular regular pond. I happened to stumble upon it, fortunately. In Critterpedia, it says they come out 4 pm to 9 am and their location is labeled as river (clifftop). You could probably get a lot of bait and just keep throwing it in there and hopefully it'll pop up! Best of luck to you :)

Right after reading this thread, I went to the top tier cliff river pond and caught a stringfish on my fourth try. Keep trying and good luck!

Stock up on 10-30 bait each run and don't give up.

The stringfish is listed just as rare as a coelacanth, so don't be too surprised if it takes you a very long time to find one, let alone catch it. When you finally catch it, it'll feel really rewarding!!

Take 50+ bait, but I got the sucker. Now, about the other rare river fish.
