Aka Super Mario Party, which was announced a couple days ago within Nintendo's E3 presentation!

The gameplay looks pretty solid imo, they finally got rid of the terrible car system and returned to the classic way of playing. I also heard that there will be an online mode although it's gonna be mini-games only.

What do you think of the game? Are you interested in buying it?

*Also what the heck Pom Pom is in this game why are they adding so many weird characters to Mario Party games... First Spike and now that abomination

O ye enjoy this picture of Zelda (the boy who you play as) falling down from the heavens along with magic form batons

Mario Party does not have a good reputation so I can't blame them.

I was all set to be underwhelmed and negative about this game because the Mario Party series has been disappointing for a number of years now. However, upon watching the gameplay video a few minutes ago from the Nintendo Treehouse event at E3, I'm honestly cautiously optimistic about the game.

Whomp's Domino Ruins looks a bit smaller than I would ideally like my boards to be. I'm also not too keen on the idea of a merely 6-sided traditional die when we used to have 10-sided die, and only having to spend 10 coins for a star instead of 20, but I suppose these issues do make sense on a smaller board. We're not wholly going back to the glory days, but it's an admirable effort and I am actually potentially interested in acquiring the game after getting a Switch.

The 10-sided die still seems to be present as an item you can collect, so that's good. The mini-games look enjoyable.

If the playable character roster is as stacked as the Mario Wiki currently shows it to be then I'm very pleased. A game where you can choose from both Boo and Dry Bones is awesome to me. If anyone is curious, here is the supposed playable character roster. I'm suspicious, but we'll see come October 5th.

Super Mario Party Playable Characters said:
  • Mario
  • Luigi
  • Peach
  • Daisy
  • Wario
  • Waluigi
  • Yoshi
  • Donkey Kong
  • Diddy Kong
  • Rosalina
  • Bowser
  • Bowser Jr.
  • Goomba
  • Koopa Troopa
  • Dry Bones
  • Shy Guy
  • Boo
  • Hammer Bro
  • Monty Mole
  • Pom Pom

I was planning to attempt to get a Nintendo Switch before December, but now I almost want to try to get one before October. I hope the game ends up being as good as it looks now.

I just realized that they might lock characters to amiibo figures like they did in Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival and I want to curl into a ball now.

If only it had online capabilities... (that aren’t just mini-games, smh Nintendo).

Actually I think it's only half good. Today they showed a demonstration of a board which is basically Toad Scramble from Mario Party: Star Rush but without toads and people taking turns. Honestly, since you have to run around every which way, I HATED that form of board.

I think the game is somewhat worth buying, however, they need to drop all the innovative Car System, Toad Scramble stuff and focus strictly on what made Mario Party 1 through 8 and DS worth playing. If there's too much of the more modern Mario Party in this game, I won't be very happy :/

It's looking to be a good game so far. I'm likely going to pick it up to play with friends. All the minigames I've seen played so far look really fun, and the pacing seems to be not as bad as you'd expect with a D6. I would prefer larger boards, but a smaller board can work too.

If it wasn't Switch and they'd done proper releases for 3ds lol..

Gamecube pratty's were always the best though... I'd say 64 if it wasn't for that damn training bicycle thing lol

I?ll probably buy it, as I loved Mario Party. My favorite in the series was Mario Party 5. I loved playing as Koopa Kid.

The updated fact sheet from Nintendo has been updated. They now state that the free grid movement in Super Mario Party only applies to the Partner Party mode. The Mario Party mode retains the core gameplay flow present in all N64 and GCN installments alongside with the 8th one.

So in other words, Tag Battle (two vs two teams) is pretty much gone and replaced with Partner Party?

Gotta continue my edgy joke streak so I updated the OP

Anyway I pre-ordered the game because the online functionality is already good enough for me to warrant a purchase tbh. Also the elements that returned from Star Rush are cool to see, I never played that game so it'll be nice to try that out!
