So, I finished designing Peggy's mermaid house. Then she was making a swimming gesture around her room! I dunno what's that all about, but it's pretty sweet. I wonder what made her swim: Is it because of the underwater sound effect? The mermaid/underwater wallpaper? Her house exterior having a mermaid roof, fence, etc.?
Is Peggy the only one that can swim because she wanted to become a mermaid or because of her house theme? Do other villagers make swimming gestures too?

So far, Peggy is the only one that swims in my game. I think this whole swimming thing is cute, but I have no idea what makes a villager swim around their room.

I have a few villagers who do it; I think anyone will do it if they have the underwater or mermaid wall and floor -- I don't know which one does it though since I have both in every case. It is really cool, one of my favorite things they do!!

Apparently this has also happened in HHD. And yea it all has to do will the wall and floor.

I have an underwater wall in my office and yes, the villagers do sometimes make a swimming motion. It's weird and cute at the same time!

So, it's the wallpaper that makes swimming happen huh... Cool! I love the game's attention to details, it makes sense when they try to swim when their room is set underwater.

Are there other wallpapers that make a villager create unique gestures? Or it's just swimming when you placed an underwater/mermaid wall?

When I finished creating Marina's house, she did the gesture too! Her house theme is underwater fantasy land and I decorate her house with underwater floor and wall. also with mermaid furnitures. I like the gesture a lot, it is super cute :D

EDIT: I'm silly, just realized this was in Happy Home Designer. Whoops. xD

Nah, that's an easy mistake to confuse them, they're using the same engines so they look very, VERY similar, but only HHD upgraded it slightly to include little things like that. They're quite clever the way they have the villagers interacting with the stuff around them- better AI this time than in past games.

This. I love the way the villagers interact with their surroundings now - swimming, reading books, using a fork and knife, drinking tea, examining shop displays, singing at microphones, playing instruments...

It's amazingly cute, and I hope it carries over into the main series. For now, though, it's part of what makes HHD so unique and fun.

Reviving this old tread, but my player character also did a swimming gesture when he interacted with a fish.

that's interesting! marina has done the same swimming gesture when i checked on her house one time, but i didn't put up the mermaid wall or flooring! i believe the underwater background noise is what makes animals do this cute gesture.

The swimming gesture, inside a room of a villager's decorating house, may be triggered by using the underwater sound. It may be that sound that does it more than anything else.
