Let me preface this by saying that I will also contact Nintendo if I can't figure it out. I just don't like doing it since more often than not, I end up with a customer service rep who reads keywords in the email and gives me a pasted reply back.
Anyhow, I don't have Switch Online currently, so I don't know how the console even found this data. If it matters what I did prior to this, I have Dragon Quest Builders 2 digital on the Switch, and I looked it up on the Switch store randomly, to see if it was still full priced out of curiosity . The next day, I loaded up my game save, and was immediately presented with a game I didn't recognize.
I restarted and figured I'd hit the wrong one, but no! Somehow, my Switch console rolled back the save data by 2 years. For double confusion, the last auto-save reads as 2019, but the manual save is listed as 2021. But.... I don't play DQB2 that way - I wait for the auto-save before switching out the game. Even if one became corrupted, the last manual save I had was in 2020. And this 'manual' save that I'm loading was a LOT earlier than the 2020 save.
Anyone know what could have happened? And perhaps more importantly (to me, anyway), why my Switch/game even had a 2 year old data backup of the game save resting on my console?
