I hope I don't sound ignorant, but I'm wondering why TBT bells are so high in demand? I know you can use them for purchasing username changes and stuff, but other than that, I don't see why they would be so valuable. While tier 1 villagers go for about 4-5m+ IGB, if you bid like 300TBT you've basically won the bid.

Is there some kind of redeeming feature I don't know about?

I think it's because they are hard to earn? That is, if you don't have anything to trade for them and such. A lot of people seem to be fine with their igb amount(wish I could say the same haha one day!) I'm not entirely sure >.< TBT do go fast though, it seems, because they are in demand, so maybe it's like a cycle? Sorry I couldn't answer this better!

300 TBT = about 30 mil IGB, and 1 TBT = 100k, and so forth and so on. It's sort of like the economy.

No problem c: Hmm, maybe... but I feel like bells are relatively easy to earn, since I have about 1500 from simply being active. I avidly spend them too, so I'm not too sure.

Oh, that makes sense! Thank you~ It's convenient though, it seems like you can get a lot of stuff from simply giving away some bells that aren't even from the game.

TBT Is used to buy collectibles, the little pictures on the left under avatars. They're also used to buy full games, art and more! They used to be worth around 2mil per 100 TBT, but their price got inflated a lot!

So pretty much it's easier than going and dropping 100 mil bells in someones town for a piece of art or something

Thanks! ^-^ Now that seems useful. What do you mean by 'full games' though? And what are the little pictures under the avatars? Do they have any purpose?

The ones in little boxes like this^ There are cakes, fruits from the games, feathers, candies and more! They don't really have any purpose, they're just there. Certain events have certain collectibles, so they show that you participated I guess.

By full games I mean Download codes pretty much, for 3ds games, Steam games or sometimes even games that are sent by mail!

^^ I'm also curious about that and how to gift them to other members >.<

This guide shows how to transfer TBT and Collectibles to other users

I relate to this question too. It's rather clever how it works, the forum currency has created its own economy with value because of the exchange rate to IGB. I created an account on The Bell Tree Forums a while ago, but I soon stopped being active when I stopped playing AC:NL. When I came back to forum when I started playing again, I noticed how TBT had become more valuable and users on the forum were really interested in obtaining it. I didn't get it at first, I had a lot of TBT in my wallet and I valued IGB a lot more (and still do) But I was like "Why is TBT so sought after, when everyone here plays the game? Surely IGB would be more valuable?" But then I realised that because everyone else wanted TBT, so did I. I think that's how it works. Because everyone wants TBT, exchanging TBT for services works in the same way exchanging IGB or even real money. Because there is a collective that shows it has value, it therefore, has value. It's a very clever system. In the same way money works in real life. Money itself is just paper and coins, but because everyone wants it and values it, you can exchange it for goods and services.

That's how I understand it, anyway. xD

Exactly! xD It's a great system-- but sometimes I feel like TBT is a little overvalued still. I mean, I would think the economy would simply be built off of IGB, since you can do more stuff with IGB instead of TBT bells. But I guess collectibles and stuff play a role in that too. cx
