Is this a thing? How much have the prices changed over the years? I occasionally see people mentioning how inflated TBT and ACNL bells have become. Im newer here, but i was kind of surprised when i saw that most people consider 10mil IGB bells to be on the low side.

In August 2014, the exchange rate was 4 million bells per 100 tbt. I believe that it's over 15 million bells per 100 tbt currently, but there's no set price. It's up to whoever is buying and selling.

About when I joined: 100TBT=2-4 M IGB
Now: 100TBT=10-20 M IGB
There have been patches where it's spiked and patches where it's dropped for some reason though.

If TBT bells cost more game bells, it means there's inflation with game bells, not TBT bells.

In my thread I dropped it down to 10 mil per 100. That's only because of how long it takes to drop all of them. Kinda lazy, but people still buy it! :p

The spooky part of the in-game bell inflation is where it all came from: every single one of those millions of bells was generated by some hardworking individuals who still catch bugs on the island and sell turnips.

I highly doubt it. 10-20 mil takes a very long time to get on the island and probably takes a while to get even with turnips. I could probably post my way to 100 TBT faster than I can make that amount of IGB without cheating.

Every single in game bell is generated through gameplay. Think about it.

In-game bells have inflated in a linear manner since the release of the game. Initially, the conversion rates on the site were 100TBT for 500,000 in-game bells. This is because the in-game bells were precious and everyone needed the money to upgrade their houses, build public works projects, buy items, etc. Now days, the conversion rates are something along the lines of 100TBT for 20,000,000 in-game bells. This is the result of a game that is two years old. Everyone has all the stuff they want and there is no longer any practical use for the currency in the game. TBT hasn't inflated, the in game currency has. This will be fixed when a new animal crossing game comes out since you aren't able to transfer bells from past installments to new ones. The conversion rate will reset.

I'm curious to see if the value of forum bells will go down now since most people I knew wanted forum bells to buy game download codes and Nintendo club coins and those 2 things are basically no more.

I agree with you but I think it'll depend on how the currency will work in the new Animal Crossing game, or if we even have a currency. If the game will have a currency like in Animal Crossing New Leaf then it will be the wall street crash all over again but then with people selling TBT.

I've always seen this situation as that one guy trying to one-up somebody else to get a nicer deal. Then the bandwagon starts and everyone's doing it. I've seen this take place in the TBT Marketplace. Unless someone with a higher status sets a core amount, which probably will never happen, the bandwagon will keep going and the price for btb will shoot up until no one can afford btb with the in-game bells. Sooner or later some might even pay real cash for them like it's some sort of p2p thing.

Doesn't the rate of 20m to 100 forum bells raise red flags to the mods? I'm pretty sure majority (if not all) of these traders uses powersaves, duping, etc. There are already some threads that I see in the marketplace where it doesn't seem feasible for people to be trading 20m so often to be getting their in game bells the legit way. As long as there is powersaving and duping, I'm pretty sure the rate will never drop, even with the new game coming out, people will always find ways to cheat.

Just one a side note, i am flabergasted when i see people dropping anything north of 10 mil in game bells for 100 btb. That takes a long time! Even if you dont drop, but do retail or some faster method. Its still painful, super time consuming.

Probably Powersaves

YES. exactly. I mean, if you saw someone get 15mil or even 20mil IGB with just a hundred BTB then of course you wouldn't settle for just the old rate of 8 mil for 100 BTB, right? Especially when you see that there are people willing to pay that much IGB. Well.. unless you're fine with it though. But still, I kinda doubt the old rates of 5-10 mil IGB for 100 BTB would return lol
