I'm sorry this is the wrong forum to talk about this stuff, but I really need help.
I've recently sold my XL 3DS and I remembered to take out the SD card. So I can purchase the limited edition HHD. I got it yesterday. I realized putting you SD card is different putting it on a new 3DS...
I went all over online to find anything, I saw a pc transfer. It worked perfectly but then when I got into the system, and to see my games, or themes. I didn't see any of it...at all. I went to e-shop and see if there was any options for me to download the game, same with the theme store. Is there any way to access my games back?
Also I'm so disappointed on how complicated this it just to transfer your data. I only have one new 3DS with a microSD card and my SD card.
Once again, I'm sorry if it's in the forum all I want help is help to get my old data back. :/

You have to do a system transfer to bring the games over if they aren't downloadable from the eshop. To do the system transfer you need both 3ds's though so I'm not sure if it's possible for you to get your games back. I honestly thought if you bought them on eshop you would be able to redownload

Fink is correct, you need both of your 3ds's to do a transfer or else it doesn't really know what you want to transfer over. It's really not hard. But you needed to transfer your data BEFORE selling your other DS.

:( Hope you figure something out

Thank you for answering, I have to call the person who I sold it too. Hopefully he's nice enough to help me...
It really ticks me off you need both systems, though. I wasn't going to be able to afford my new 3DS if I didn't sell my original 3DS...Thanks, Nintendo -.-

Yeah, Nintendo has a "system-based" account rather than a "user-based" account. What system-based means is that all of your digital content is locked down to the specific 3DS you download it to. If you buy a new 3DS, you have to transfer your data from the old 3DS to the new 3DS or else you won't be able to use it. And like others said, you have to have both 3DSes to do that transfer.

Before you do the transfer make sure the micro SD card that comes with the NEW 3DS has enough room. If you have a lot of digital game is might not fit.
Nintendo SD card isn't the same size as the micro SD card. The micro SD card holds less.
A lot of players lost their ACNL games when they did the transfer. Others did the transfer but when they went to download HHD it wouldn't fit because they didn't have enough room.
I bought a 16 micro card and it didn't cost a lot of money.
