Tenth Villager

Hi guys! I have a quick question. I already have the plot set for the tenth villager and I wanted to know, will a random eventually move in or is the tenth spot invite only like in new leaf? Thanks!

I'd imagine it is invite only, either campsite, island tour or inviting from another player.

The 10th villager just moved in randomly like the other villagers for me.

Ugh! Was hoping this was not true I’m trying to leave that spot open for a villager someone trying to move out to give me but they said it may take a few days ((

This has been my question too, I want Raymond and I won’t be able to get him via amiibo so if I can’t leave that slot open and look for him to invite I don’t know how I’ll get him.
