Anytime my pro controller dies, I have to use one of my joy-cons, and hooo boi am I loosing my mind.

It's a good thing I have two set of joycons though, b/c the other ones...I mean I don't even think I would be able to play.

Share your animal crossing joy-con drift struggles, I'm curious.

Can you plug your controller into the switch with a cord at all to charge while you play? I only have the ones that need to be connected 24/7 to use so I'm not sure if that is an option :c

My switch is too far from me. At the moment, I don't think I have a charging block with enough watts to charge why controller while I play, so I'm out of luck.

When I'm playing handheld in bed or somewhere away from the TV my character always just walks–runs or stops completely when I'm trying to move south. I have two sets of joy-cons thankfully but pro controller all the way since I haven't had drift on that yet.

im super worried that my pro controller's gonna start drifting because when it does i might not even be able to play the game anymore
i dont have enough money to buy a new one

I had Joycon drift super bad when I got Animal Crossing New Horizons (I had gotten my Switch at launch as a Christmas gift but the only game I had was Splatoon 2 and I got disconnected nearly every game so I didn't play much until i got acnh) and I could do nearly nothing! I found on the Nintendo site that you can get your Joycons fixed for completely free....However due to Covid19 they're not currently accepting tickets, so well...I brought some new Joycons (Before they got sold out at every store near me...Plus I wasn't able to even get the colors I wanted because well...every Joycons sold out lol)

I’ve been playing with drifting joycons and it is getting frustrating. Missing dig spots and catching bugs. I’ve stopped catching tarantulas because I don’t want to get accidentally bitten because my controller thought it would be funny if it drifted upwards. It’s not so bad that terraforming is impossible, but if it gets there all I can really do is try those ‘quick fix’ tricks. Can’t really get a new controller till this pandemic passes through.

I didn't even know about this website, thanks for sharing. And wow, that sounds horrible, hopefully, the new ones work well.

I sent one of mine to Nintendo last fall for drift. Now I need to send the other one in too at least it's the right one so it just messes with the camera. They'll do it for free but it takes a couple weeks and the mail is horrible right now with the virus .

Guys, try blowing under your circle pad. It could be dust that is causing it to drift and usually blowing under it solves it for me.

I'm might consider hanging the button mapping, but I'm so used to playing it like this.

I only started noticing it when trying to send letters to my villagers using the joy-stick. It was like a ghost was fighting against all my inputs (I now use the d-pad instead).

I don't feel it as much when terraforming/walking around though.

You are the bravest of souls for terraforming with Joy-con drift. The thought sounds absolutely miserable.

My Joy-cons started drifting when I got New Horizons. It was a self-fulfilling prophecy I reckon given I had the horrible thought of what would happen if I got drift when the game dropped with the-virus-who-shall-not-be-named going around.
I lasted about 3 days before I was going insane and bought a pro controller. Thankfully my local game store was still open...

I never expected Animal Crossing to be the type of game that gets severe problems from drift but boy was I wrong. Kept running off in to the unknown any second I let go of my joy stick. Menu browsing was miserable too. I caught a coelecanth with a full inventory and had to play the fun mini game of "Will my cursor land on Release it or Keep it". Thankfully I kept it.

I have a quite badd joycon drift. Whenever I want to dig 3 holes behind me to smash rocks I need at least 3 tries for each hole. Also sometimes while smashing the rock my character goes to the right so I miss the rock and can only hit it around 4 times. Terraforming is an absolute nightmare because I constantly build cliffs where I dont want them to and I rip off cliffs where I don't want to. I basically have to do everything around 3-4 times until I get it the way I want it. Every single block.

Guys, as soon as Nintendo feel that it is safe, please return these faulty joycons to them for free replacements.

I have left drift on my fake Switch Pro controller, so I ordered a brand new official Switch Pro controller - which arrived with bottom left drift. So maybe avoid upgrading to the £60 Pro controller to avoid joycon drift. I asked for a replacement. Maybe it should have been a refund.

I can't imagine terraforming with this drift. Just catching wasps with the Switch Pro (when my original joycons are flat) is a challenge..

Ugh, I submitted a ticket for getting my drift fixed last fall, but then I found an at home fix and decided not to send them. That fix lasted a few months, and now they're drifting to the extreme. And the cheap USB pro controller I got to replace them so I'd be able to use the switch while they're getting fixed started drifting too! I really wish I got them fixed when I had the chance.

I don't have any drift problems, but I still find terraforming to be incredibly touchy. I wish it would show a little outline around the square you are going to dig. I know that wouldn't look as aesthetically pleasing as the seamless construction system we have now...but it would sure help me keep my sanity.
