“Assorted” Collector
This entry is the last entry to The Evolution of Animal Crossing. Previously, I talked about the box theory, the changes in customization, the changes in attractions, and the opinionated comparisons of the first two games. Today, I'm going over the new stuff that New Leaf had that we couldn't even imagine of the previous games.
Animal Crossing: New Leaf is currently the most recent installment of the entire AC franchise. While it contained features that have completely evolved from the beginning (such as the clothes and tools), there are even some features that didn't even exist in City Folk that do exist in New Leaf. This is what today is going to be about. Here is a list of what was added in ACNL:
That's all for this entry. And this wraps up both Analyzing Animal Crossing and The Evolution of Animal Crossing. For the rest of the month every fourth entry, I should probably share some QR code patterns I made.
- Public Works Projects - despite having the town fund in City Folk, lighthouse and extra bridge in the Gamecube version, and donations for feathers in Wild World and City Folk, we didn't have anything like this until New Leaf. Placing where you want your projects to be, the multiple varieties of projects, and some of the special stuff like the Café and campsite as PWPs, are all new to New Leaf.
- Ordinances - another feature introduced since the first human character can be mayor were the town ordinances. You can determine how the game mechanics differ, like when you can make more Bells by selling items, prevent weed growth, or have the Nookling's open later. Did we even have this in the Gamecube version?
- Custom Exhibits - for the longest time in AC history, we only had four exhibits, and today, we still have the same four to donate to. But we also have custom exhibits in the upper floor where you can have any exhibit you want. You can have holiday exhibits, the theme exhibits, or even some other weird stuff.
- Working at the Café - the Café was a feature since Wild World, but all you could do there is get coffee. In New Leaf, you can get a job at the café. Just get the orders right and you could get some cool prizes.
- House Exteriors - despite having a feature where you can change the roof color in previous games, updating exterior options was new to New Leaf. You can make your house look like anything.
- Island Tours - even if we had NES games in the Gamecube version, Island Tours were new to New Leaf. You can play games to earn medals. Cool, right?
- Ore - now this is something that didn't even happen in the previous games. You can break some rocks to extract ore.
- Furniture Modification - the refurbishing feature in the Re-Tail is a prime example of a feature that didn't even exist in City Folk and before. I like getting multiple colors of furniture.
- Dream Towns - yet, another feature that started in New Leaf. Since towns can be more diverse, you can see others' towns without traveling to their towns.
- Smug and Uchi Villagers - two new personalities introduced in ACNL. For a long time, we only had six. Now there are eight.
That's all for this entry. And this wraps up both Analyzing Animal Crossing and The Evolution of Animal Crossing. For the rest of the month every fourth entry, I should probably share some QR code patterns I made.
