The "I learned something new today!" Thread

The guy who brought starlings to the U.S. was obsessed with Shakespeare and wanted to fill the country with all the birds from his plays.
Reminds me of when the US bought camels for the military to cross the deserts. The soldiers didn't like them because they were constantly spit on lol. Eventually during the outbreak of the Civil War they released them in the desert and there were still reports of them being spotted in the early 1900s.

A seven-year-old girl died flying an airplane. Jessica Dubroff died while trying to become the youngest person to fly across the United States. This was in 1996, but I have no idea how people just…allowed it to happen? My little cousin is the same age and I can’t imagine anyone allowing her to do something like that. From what I read, it sounded like her parents forced her into it, which is extremely concerning.

I rarely eat tuna, but when I do it is canned and I drain it. Just learned today that you aren't suppose to do that? You are suppose to mix it in? And all that juice will be absorbed back into the meat? Now I want to try it again and maybe it won't taste dry for once.

I was at Target and apparently Poppi (the drink) also has t-shirts, pants, and hoodies advertising the drink. I mean, I get it with classic brands like Coca-Cola, but I was surprised to see it with a newer drink.

When she was a kid, my mom used to watch a show called “The Secrets of Isis.” Anyway, I figured it was on around the same time as “Wonder Woman” and “The Bionic Woman”, but it was actually a few years older. It was the first primetime female superhero show. (Kinda niche, I know.)

Lindsay Kay Hayward (also known as “Isis the Amazon”), a 6’8” woman in TLC’s My Giant Life, was also a wrestler in TNA. (She was signed to WWE, but didn’t get to fight.) She also acts here and there.

Jason Alexander (George Costanza) was 29 when “Seinfeld” premiered. (I’m gonna turn 29 in April…but honestly, I thought he was older than that.)

Some prisons have pickleball courts. I learned this from an incident TMZ covered. Honestly, prison and pickleball don’t sound like they go together lol. BUT depending on the prison, it could be something healthy and productive to do.
