Wii no longer has access to the store/online features. I'm concerned for when Nintendo decides to cut off 3DS online. We won't be able to do online/internet traveling? Only local? ... I'm scared for this community! Trading is such a big part of the game for me and many others. It came out so long ago but still.
Thoughts?

It's only a matter of time before they decide to cut 3DS online. Once that happens, ACNL online will be pretty much dead, save for a few people using a 3DS version of Wiimmfi.

I won't be too sad since I'll have moved on to New Horizons (assuming that game is good), but it will be really unfortunate for ACNL players who still need to use online to get certain items. I guess everyone's going to have to make sure they have all the limited furniture they want, before Nintendo cuts the service and it becomes a lot harder to get them.

It unfortunately is a reality that is likely if not guaranteed to happen with every console. Even though the 3DS had a long lifespan, hopefully its online features will last a bit longer than usual given how recent they have made games for it. While it is sad, I am ready to make new memories in New Horizons. I want to play New Leaf as long as I can with others though, so I am still actively trading so they can enjoy as I have until the end.

I think 3DS internet capabilities as a whole have a good chance of being stable well into 2020. Judging by how Nintendo worked with Gamefreak to allow Pokemon Home to reach to the older generations and allowing transfer from them to the Switch Sword and Shield.

I'm not sure if Nintendo would just start by disconnecting internet capabilities from specific games though.

I know they do it by console, I don't think by individual games, could be wrong though

Internet features are removed when the product gets unpopular and therefore unused, or when the console is 'upgraded' (eg wii - wii u). Nintendo are still releasing 3DS games. Until the 4DS comes out, the Internet features aren't going out. I don't understand why people on this thread are panicking.

What 3DS games has Nintendo been releasing presently? I'm curious
