I have just rest my 3DS by accident after playing for around 5 hours... I only it got it yesterday and made the mistake thinking thhe power button was start... and there goes 5 hours of work and a whole lot of bugs and fish which I had donated to the museum. A little demoralising to say the least.

It is really frustrating when something like that happens, I wish this game had some sort of a back-up or autosave feature to reduce the amount that you would lose by an accidental reset...

Maybe some of you may want to share their experiences of any unfortunate resets?

I hear you. I had the same experience not just once, but 3 times.

I never really played more than 1 hour so saving is not a habit to me. Then, I came to a point where I wanted to test something so I tried to save. Guess what? I pressed the wrong button. I did not know what happened at first, then I realized all my progress was gone. So frustrated. It then happened to me 2 more times!! I was so mad at myself.

Now, I have a sticker on my power button. Since I do not really turn off the console, so I am not really hitting that button anyways.... That sticker reminds me everyday not to touch it! LOL!

I don't recall ever accidentally pressing my power button. You should try to have something to remind you to save, and that can get you into the habit of saving.

One time I was JUST finished with selling a bunch of beetles to Reese, and I had to go to the bathroom so I was holding it a bit near the edge, and my hand slipped and pressed the power button when I was still walking to the bathroom :(

I was talking to someone and accidentally did the same thing, I was just like omg NNNOOOO. :c

It never happened to me. I seem to be pretty careful when it comes to things like this.

Almost pressed it once.. not because I thought it was start.. I guess I wasn't really paying attention.

Don't think its ever happened to me but that'd really suck :c I save quite often though~

Never happened to me, but now...THANKS a heck of a lot for this thread because NOW it probably will...

Just kidding. :p But I seriously hope it doesn't happen. Around here we usually have the opposite problem - we'd LOVE to lose some "progress" and get stuck with it instead. Urgh...

I guess there's just no pleasing us. Lol!

Depends on the 3ds you have... I have one of the newer 3ds, and I swear, even if you lightly brush up against the power button, it jumps to the screen that says, you're about to sleep this thing, you sure you want to do this? And of course, you have exited the game without saving. Lame! I do have a 3ds xl, and I've never had the same problem.

Sorry you lost so much of your work. I am now in a paranoid mode of saving and continuing anytime I reach a milestone because of the stupid power button.

Almost the exact same thing has happened to me. I'd been beetle hunting, sold everything, and the damn thing slips out of my hands and the cartridge pops out. Everything lost. But it could have been worse. I only lost time and money and not something I couldn't easily get back. Well, I guess I can't get time back, but you know.

That happened to me once recently. I came back from bug catching on the island(had a really good haul) and after selling them and buying pieces of the sweets set I realized I'd bought a piece I already had. I didn't want to waste the money and I thought that going to/from island saved the game so I reset figuring I'd just have to sell the bugs all over again. How wrong I was. I was back before I even went to the island. I was sooooo mad. I was lucky though cause I posted what happened here and a really nice person gave me the bells to buy all the sweets pieces I still needed.

I really should save more often than I do. I usually only save if I get some thing really good/hard to get and don't wanna risk losing it. I do save during holidays/events ALOT. When I did the halloween event every time I got 1-2 items I needed I'd put them in my house and save. Those events can be so time consuming as it is I really don't wanna risk adding to it. Sorry you lost all your work, I know how it feels. :)

Nice to know I'm not the only one who makes a silly mistake like this:)

Well I've learnt from my mistake anyway, I won't be doing the same thing again... Hopefully.
