The Official Advanced Techniques Thread

Advanced techniques?
Advanced techniques are skills in SSBB that pros use, such as Wavedashing, Shine spiking, L Canceling, fast falling, edge hogging/guarding, etc. These techniques make you a better overall player, but take some practice to get down. It takes quick hands and good timing, but once you master a characters ATs (advanced techniques), you'll be able to stomp the competition. Warning: not for the casual.

What is this thread for, then?
For the discussion of all ATs including how-tos, discoveries, videos, guides, and more.

I found this advanced technique (I'm putting it down lower for those who don't want to spoil their game experience).

Play normal, use what you got, don't exploit glitches. What a way to win! It's so amazing!

In this scenario I had a few options.

1: Delete your post.
2: Completely humiliate you.
3: Do both.

But, I thought of a better idea. I'll leave your post/idiotic comment here so everyone can gawk at how stupid that was.

This is my house. I am God here. Don't screw with me.

I'm really sorry that you are such a nerd, that you would do random crap and find glitches in a game...what happened to having a life?

I don't like Advanced Techniques, because I'm too lazy and incapable to pull them off, so I'd rather everyone else just sink to my playing level.

True story.

*Seconds this*

Unless they are any easy to use, extremely powerful advanced techniques for Ike or Toon Link.

Most people were put off by Melee's hundreds of complicated combos and ATs, but the truth is, in Brawl, we're starting all over again. The new techniques that are coming out I actually find much easier to use and actually implement than the majority of Melee's.

A simple AT is Fox Shinestall- double jump, and keep hitting down+B for your shine. Your fall slows a tremendous amount. This can also be used to stop a fall, and mindgames- run off the edge, lure the opponent over, shinestall, and hop back on stage. The down+B doesn't take your jump OR up+B away. Fox recovers from his shine in Brawl quicker than in Melee which is what makes this possible.

Gawd, I keep mixing up the initials AT for Assist Trophy.

As for the shinestall, I gotta try it.

Hey all. A nice little technique here that I've found. It's quite useful for stalling, drawing an enemy close for a spike or edge attack, thinking of your next move, running out the time on the clock, etc. It can be done with any character that can wall jump, as well. AND it's an infinite!

What is this technique called, you say?

The infinite lip stall.

How is it done, you ask?

All that needs to be done is:

1: Be playing on a stage with a lip. (I.E. Final Destination)
2: Grab onto the edge.
3: Drop.
4: Jump under the lip.
5: Wall jump (while holding the control stick in the direction of the edge)
6: Grab back onto the edge, wait for invincibility frames to end, and repeat.

Your character will take advantage of Brawl's new ability to home onto the edge. Everything is both explained and shown in this video. Discuss.

Nice technique, the only problem is my mains can't stick to the walls. >_<

Hey, you discovered the "technique" I use for surviving in 15 minute Multi-Man Brawl. Of course, Battlefield doesn't have a lip, it has more of a slant.

Infinite Slant Stalling just doesn't sound as nice.
