Guys, the strange souvenir you get in X and Y... a moai statue... alola... aloha... hawaii 0.o?
I think there's gonna be an event if we transfer the item to sun and moon but its just a hunch. maybe we throw it in the volcano to get rid of a curse (probable not cuz it says its a protector). Maybe on the night of an eclipse during the game it will rumble like an egg an turn into an eclipse legendary that'd be cool too. I think we're gonna find out the item's significance in this gen!

In all honesty i think the strange souvenir was just a teaser, but only time will tell :p maybe it will have a role in the story

The moai status was a big hint, and so it the guy quoting "It's not Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, or Kalos." The moment the guys mentioned all regions and said he did not come from any of them, I knew it was confirmed. Although I have to be honest and ask myself, why would Nintendo put all these hints? Were they trying to hype us?

What does Hawaii have to do with moai heads? Those are on Easter Island.
And if it was a teaser for the next generation, why is it right at the beginning of this one? In all others, the teasers were only put in at the end (like Bonsly and Munchlax in Pokemon XD, or the unreleased Lock Capsule in HG/SS). Seems kind of redundant.

Okay put it this way then. What if the region is not only a reference in Hawaii, but since the island is so small, chances are that you will have to travel around the eastern island and the other islands that makes up Hawaii. The Moai statue still plays a role here. But I do believe you are right as a few teasers were put at the end in the past.

The Hawaiian islands are fairly near to each other, so those I can understand (and I expect those to be part of the game). Easter Island is over 4000 miles away from Hawaii. The largest distance travelled in one go in a Pokemon game so far was from Johto to the Sinjoh Ruins in Sinnoh (less than 1000 miles real world equivalent).
If it turns out to be part of S&M, then sure, I'll roll with it. But at the moment it doesn't make much sense to me.

Read Moai as Tiki Statue/Totem and mystery solved ;)

The Strange Souvenir looks almost identical a Tiki Statue, which are in Hawaii.

I'm going to assume V-drift got confused by Moai's and Tiki's (the two are similar and it is very easy to get confused), because a Tiki Statue would make sense as a hint for Gen 7 being a Hawaiian based region.

I forgot who made the video, but I found a theory involving the Anistar sundial. It involved the fact that on the map, there is no water surrounding it, and it has a very coincidental amount of islands surrounding it.

Jiggly Jake i spooped meant tiki, thank you for correcting me :p
edit: the snow globe collectible is amazing

Oops. This is very much true then. I did confuse the Tiki very much. ^^; But then what made me think in the first place the Moai statue was a revealing teaser for Gen 7? I know I usually check my own theories for easter eggs or teasers but, now I am unsure of what I had in mind.

Probably because when you look at the figure a person mind that it's not from Hawaii I must add will go first into thinking the moi statues and after analyzing a bit in your mind then you will think of the tiki
because people that are not from Hawaii will generally think fast and say it's a moia statue when it's the other way around
