Basically what you do is to go to the profile page of the person above you and post saying what they're doing. For example, if I was viewing a thread, the person below me would say that I was viewing a thread and say what thread I was viewing. If the person is offline, just say that they're offline.

Well, I can't really stalk the person above me because....there is no one above me.
