The Story of How Someone Just Recently Stole From Me

So about a month ago, someone posted on my thread about wanting to trade some things for some of my villager pics.

They took over a month to follow through with the trade, and then when they finally did, they wandered around my town while I was getting the stuff ready, when I specifically told them to please stay right by the train station. When I came back I layed the items out and they did the same, while wearing a lucky clover that they hadn't had on before. It seemed suspicious to me, but I didn't really think anything much of it.
Or at least that was until after they left and I saw my lucky clover missing off the ground. So I asked them politely if they took it saying: "Excuse me, but did u take my lucky clover? Because it was in my town but had suddenly disappeared after u had left... :/ "
And they said: "I'm so sorry, I didnt know". So I asked if they would kindly give it back and then they said yes, but then the very next day they claimed that they didn't have it.
So I gave them a negative wifi rating for stealing from me and then they just gave me one right back for no reason!!

So now my 100% wifi rating, with over 290 positive ratings is ruined. I mean, I know a lot of people have had it much worse than me, but it's still frustrating, u know? Does anyone have any ideas of what I should do, or any suggestions at all?? It would be greatly appreciated. Thank u all very much!!

Aww :'( I would say, if anyone says you have a negative rating and won't trade you because of that, just explain this to them.

This isn't a scammer/backlist thread because I've seen posts that have the same thing, talking about how people stole from them. Also I didn't say any names.

the mods are the people who's usernames are blue. you can usually see a few online on the first page there.

Just leave the mods a visitor message! They'll take care of it. They're very helpful people, and it's really awful that the visitor did that! They should just suck it up and grow their own clovers.

Personally, one negative rating among 230 positive ones wouldn't put me off trading with that person. I'd just look at the reason for the negative rating, just in case. If there didn't seem to be a reason or comment describing the problem, I'd probably ignore it and assume it was someone with a grudge.

I know that not everyone might think the way I do, and either way it's not fair that you were given a bad rating over this, so I understand if you're upset about it. The advice about getting in touch with moderators is good advice. Don't worry about them not being online right now, if they've been online recently, just leave them a message and I'm sure they'll reply when they check the forum again.

By the way, I'm sorry that this happened to you. I know some people leave items on the ground for visitors, so I could understand it if someone made that assumption because of only having known that way of doing things (this is also why I explain my town rules to everyone who visits, so that they won't mess up if they're not familiar with different rules people can have). However, this doesn't seem like it was an honest mistake if they ended up saying one thing and then lying. The only way that could happen would be if they somehow lost the item, but in that case, it would be best if they explained that to you instead.

Even if the mod isn't online, you can still post a message and they'll get to it. I posted on Jeremy's wall when I accidently gave a negative rating. He helped me when he got on.
