Basically, I find when I see a villager in my campsite I often find them more interesting/ desirable than I have before or might otherwise. I know a lot of people feel very strongly disappointed in their campers but wonder if anyone else feels the same?

my husband calls it my campsite villager thirst

this has led to discovering new faves (especially Ike ) and made me like villagers I did not like previously, even if I was not able to invite them at the time - like charlise and tammi. I’ve never regretted inviting a villager from my campsite, but it does often get in the way of my desire to island hop, because I let villagers go that way instead of waiting for them to ask to move.

Does anyone else find that finding a villager in your campsite increases your interest in them? Do you ever regret inviting villagers from the campsite (other than the forced camper)?

TL;DR : does anyone else have campsite villager thirst?

Oh absolutely!! That's exactly how I feel when I see a campsite villager. I get way more excited about them then I would island hopping

I see it as that they personally picked my island. So I feel really happy, and more so then island hopping

Ive never regretted anyone I got. A bunch of my earlier villagers were from the campsite. My favorite was Rosie, since she became my partner in crime.

Ike is great, I love him lol

I usually get pretty crap campsite villagers (or as I call them, trash bags lol - sort of endearingly) I have not like anyone I've gotten in recent months.

I said rarely. I will always try to get them to move in but they always pick one of my favorites and I'm someone who gets of tired of invasive repetition, like force-quitting the game and trying again.

I have Kyle in mine today but he chose Reneigh and I'm like alright you aren't living here, lol.

Because I've seen every villager online, I already have a list of who interest me. So if that specific villager camps, I just have to invite it.

Seeing them in person helps raise a bit on interest... or make it worse.

I thought this might be the case with me, but yesterday I had Rodeo in my campsite, and I walked out of there so quickly. So no... even if a villager is in my campsite that I don't like, it doesn't make me more likely to want them on my island. It makes me yeet out of there really fast. 😂

I feel like my campsite whenever I get random visits is always fill of Jocks and and Lazy Villagers that I REFUSE to even invite.
do you... not have any jocks or lazies on your island, by any chance? if not, that would probably be why you always get them.

anyways, i think it depends on the villager, but there are definitely a bunch i've thought were nice in passing but wouldn't give two hoots about otherwise that i would only Really Want after seeing them in my campsite, yeah! my last camper was Skye and despite the fact i already have two normals i had never wanted another villager more upon seeing her in the tent 😭 she's so cute..; never have i appreciated more than i did at that moment

my reaction to seeing campers seems to be yours on steroids, haha. 😅although I have my (obsessively ‘researched’) list of villagers of interest, it seems to fly out the window when I see them in my campsite…like I was sure I did not like Tammi, I think I thought she was terrifying at one point, and now I like her a lot (for better or worse I did not have someone I could let go at the time). With Ike I was decidedly disinterested, but invited him on a whim, despite not wanting a cranky. he did end up becoming my favorite cranky, so I guess that is the benefit of my campsite mania.

relatedly, I have now invited Plucky to replace my dear Flurry…so hopefully that will go well.

I admit, I think this is what I did when I saw Colton one day (may have talked to him once)…so even I have my limits. 😂

Im gonna start to change up some of my old villagers, to use my unused amiibo! So Im gonna enjoy having visitors, even more then I already do!

sometimes, yeah! there are times where i walk into the campsite and *immediately* walk back out because there's no chance i'm at all interested in that villager moving onto my island, but there are also times where it's not somebody i'd invite if i saw them on a NMT island but they interest me enough to make me pause. i think it's something to do with the fact that they've come to the island and we have them there all day that makes me more likely to take the time to think about them? whereas with island hopping i usually just want to get it done so would move on pretty quickly

I find seeing a villager online and in person to be very different experiences.

So the campsite can show villagers you might otherwise have not considered.

However my campsite likes to show me villagers I actively dislike like molly or kangaroos...

But it did give me Cyd once!

Yes, the campsite (and Nook Mile Islands) let's you see the villager up close and actually meet them, so for me, I actually take a closer look and not just glance over them. I invited Pekoe from the campsite after I saw how cute she is in game.

I always take a screenshot of my campsite visitors... just to remember who stopped by and because I find them interesting (even if I'm not interested in them staying.)

I like it when the villager visits my island. I only invited the if they fit my color scheme, but I like the concept of traveling. I like that they see islands that interest them and come see the island for themselves. I love the campsite. I even turned mine into a tribal council for Survivor. 😂

That probably explains why, but still I don't want them because if I have to hear Jocks talk about their muscles or Lazy villagers talking about their "bug friends" one more time.......

I totally agree with you, this is absolutely a thing! I can't count the number of times the campsite threw up a villager I never would have normally considered, and suddenly I find myself thinking 'Huh. What if...'

Whenever I see a jock or smug in my campsite, it just makes my blood boil. However, I ended up getting Raymond though at one time. But I kicked him off my island the following day. :p

I fully agree with you that there is something special about campsite villagers. I had Bettina in my campsite the other day and I thought she was so adorable! I would not pay her much attention if I was out island hopping but somehow seeing her in that little tent melted my heart. I did not invite her because I have some other villager plans at the moment but I definitely considered it.

I do get a lot of undesirable villagers in my campsite too but I think just the mere fact of them being in the campsite already makes me give them more of a chance, even if it's only just considering them for a moment.

Every time Isabelle announces that someone was camping, I would zip over to the tent like a pollen-deprived bee to the nearest flower. It's exciting. It's also a convenient and nearly effortless way to meet new animals, compared to island hopping, so I guess I do want to like them more. But that doesn't cause me to actually like them more or find them more interesting than any other animal I've yet to meet on a mystery island.

I don't regret inviting anyone from the campsite. Even my forced smug camper at the beginning of the game, who was Beardo, was cool. I enjoyed having him for a while. 🏕
