why is there a tombstone in the trailer?

there are theories that it is tortimer. People say its Joan due to Daisy Mae's inclusion. Then i realize how would the tortimer amiibo could work? what are your thoughts.

If wisp is still doing the amiibos, then it doesn?t matter that the npc is dead right? He can still take their forms.

Perhaps the tombstone is where Wisp rests during the day.
I would be very surprised if they were to kill off npc characters.

I hope it's Wisp's home and not Tortimer or Joan or anyone else. I don't think Nintendo would kill off an NPC in animal crossing of all things. Otherwise they would've done it with Frillard or at least that's what I think.

Though it does make sense for it to be Tortimer kind of. When he retired he went to the island to relax and run it (I think not sure on that last bit) and now that he's passed he's buried on a tropical island that we just happen to be on.

it's probably just a normal furniture item. we've had tombstones and headstones before.

it may have been there in the trailer as part of a tribute to someone who passed away during the development of new horizons or something similar to that.

I think also it is just a decoration. I would appreciate such an option, to perhaps set up a corner as a silent reminder of who has passed on in my own life.

i dont think its necessarily a decoration bc honestly its a little dark to intentionally place that furniture item in a scene in the trailer. remember, every trailer scene has been deliberately designed by someone working there, and i doubt theyd deliberately put just a furniture item there. that being said; it is likely where you summon Wisp for whatever task he does

I think it is either Wisp's daytime home or just a furniture decoration. It would make decorating for Halloween really fun! I hope we get lots of little spooky decorations.

I already read that the account isn't official, but I'm still gonna say Tortimer finally kicked the bucket and you can bring back his ghost via amiibo card. Then again Joan is missing which brings up its own questions.

I'm pretty sure it's just furniture, Animal Crossing had tombstone furniture in New Leaf and this game looks more realistic than New Leaf (along with better detail items).

I guess we just wait and see.
