And my favourite progression:

Colour Mages Together.jpg

I originally had the idea of a world without colour, and a mage bringing colour back into the world from on top of a hill. On the left is my original, and on the right is my 2020 redo of it. Practice, and working at what you want to do is worth it :D

I am so inspired by the progress you've made and I can there there has been an incredible amount of effort in your details. These tell such a great story and I would love to see a cozy game around the mage. 🥰

Aww thank you :D I used to get a little embarrassed looking back at my old work. I really thought at the time it was amazing. I over used/didn't use properly photoshop brushes for a lot of the detail in my earlier stuff. I'm proud now of how far I've come, I don't laugh or feel embarrassed when I look at my old work, it's been a part of getting to where I am. I'm not at the stage I want to be yet with my art, but you constantly learn. When people say they can't draw it makes me a little sad, it just needs time and effort putting into it to learn, and with each thing you draw, you get better :D

That is really sweet of you to say about the mage, and a good idea! I did write a little short story/piece on the mage, I'll have to see if I can find it :)

Found it! :D

Long ago, in the kingdom of Moegaeth, a fearsome tyrant, Neindior, the dragon, stole all the colour of the land, for the colour was power, the world being rich, and full of vibrancy made the people of the kingdom happy, and Neindior fed on fear, and turmoil. From Fallree Summit, to Logoria Hold, palace of the monarch, King Sagarus, and down into the wilds of Eorivar and beyond, the colour was drained by the fearsome beast.

With the kingdom weak, and in peril, Neindior flew high above Fallree Summit, and set about striking the land down in fear. He flew through the villages, burned the crops, and landed on the towers of Logoria Hold, letting out an almighty roar, his sharp talons gripping the aged stonework, crumbling under his weight and grip.

The King, with nowhere else to turn to, his kingdom in ruin, set about researching an ancient legend of a colour mage, having fought Neindior's ancestors, and set about summoning her to defeat the great evil.

After being summoned to help the people of Moegaeth, Hermia Crowe, the colour mage of the land left her small hut on the edge of the wilds and the river Fair Beck, and upon the hill overlooking the kingdom, set about bringing colour back to the kingdom.

I've also found another 2 pieces I did in 2020, one based off a painting in my OCD therapy place, and one based off the Lord of the Mountain from Breath of the Wild :D

Seeing your progression is amazing! 😍 I love your drawings. There is so much texture in each element! Amazing! 😍🌟

Got some more 'traditional' paper drawings to share too, I started a primarily watercolour sketchpad last year, and here's some of the pieces:

Starfire WIP Scan.jpg

This is a WIP of Starfire from Teen Titans I'm doing, I scanned it in to see how outlining it would look without ruining the OG picture. I'm super proud of this one as I struggle with people and usually trace them, but I didn't for this. After I'm done with Starfire, I'll be doing my favourite Titan, Raven :D

It’s so nice to see non-digital artists. I prefer doing non-digital art myself. I find it a struggle to show off my art online, though. I don’t have a scanner or a computer, and I don’t plan on getting either. I think just taking a picture of the picture with my phone doesn’t give it the quality I’d like. It’s so nice to see your progression. Thank you for sharing!

i absolutely love your art style; it’s so breathtaking to look at! i especially love your deer art from 2020 and the bee drawing from your sketchpad! 🤩💓

thank you! Yeah as you can see I’ve been doing digital for a long time. Partly due to my art teacher at school, she was very critical of me and my art (I didn’t do digital art as part of my art at school). I had a couple others who were lovely but she stuck with me. I then also got a D in art (to be honest, my final piece was a good idea, but very poorly executed). I started doing more paper art last year but I’ve been heavily procrastinating with art and drawing. Being stuck inside mostly with COVID and stuff, my imagination hasn’t been sparked as it would have, if that makes sense? Like I would go out to places and see things, and then that would set something off in my brain to draw then. I’m also a photographer, that’s what my degree is in anyway, but again, not felt the inspiration to go out cause I’ve already been round the places I live with my camera more times than I’ve had hot dinners. I’m saving for a car though which should help (I’m particularly interested in Astro photography and light pollution here is bad).

But thank you very much! I’m hoping to do more in my sketchbook this year so 😬

Thank you very much! It’s funny you say that cause I’ve never really thought I had a ‘style’. With my landscapes I’d say I do, but everything else I feel like I’m trying to find my way if that makes sense? Like I want to get more into drawing cutesie things, like chibi and stuff, but it’s hard finding my style with that 😔

Some more art I had on my phone which are drawings/cards for friends for birthdays etc :D

Cards 1.jpg

The Zelda one was part of my Dad's birthday present. I bought him a copy of the Minish Cap with no box, so I made one and that was the cover art :)

Cards 2.jpg

Cards 3.jpg

The AC one in the bottom right isn't so much drawing as more of an edit, but I drew my friend and their favorite villagers myself.

Pan's face is a bit wonky in the right drawing but it's only on A6 so it's not too much of an issue :)
