Things you have just recently figured out?

What are some things that took you some time to find out about?

I just now found out that the aquariums can be used as lamps -- you can turn them off and on. ^_^
I thought it was pretty cool. ^_^

I found that some bugs only spawn every time you capture a number of other bugs! Didn't know about this until today and was waiting forever for a Peacock Butterfly... found out from a wiki they only spawn every time you capture 20 bugs, and finally got one... just need two more for the model now

I just figured out that villagers could visit each other. With my few months of playing the game, this is the first time it's happened. Went into Lobo's house and was surprised to see that Judy was there too.

Wait, are you sure? I'm pretty sure they start spawning after you get 20 total bugs, but then they'll spawn randomly... I feel like I've gotten multiple peacock butterflies in a row but I guess I could be wrong!
(I think they tend to spawn around blue/purple flowers, though, but that's just from my personal experience)

Anyway, I'm trying to think... I know it took me way too long to discover the Able Sister's have extra clothing in stock everyday if you go in the dressing room, but that was still awhile ago, lol

EDIT: I reread the wiki and I'm 99% sure they start spawning randomly after 20 total bugs (as in, you can catch 20 bugs, then a peacock, then, say, 2 bugs, then another peacock, etc.) But I'm also pretty sure they have a low spawn rate (they nerfed it sometime last year, for awhile I was SWIMMING in them on my island) so they are rare.

I recently worked out that the people who were able to use the chat function *without* their character looking busy were in fact using the Nintendo Online app to chat. Small, but it had been bugging me for a while not knowing how they did that!

I thought it would be nice to make a thread in the same vein as the Things you didn't know about forever? thread in the New Leaf forum, where people share little tidbits and tricks that they learned about the game that other people might not know about yet!
