id want to auction her off. This took me about and hour and 30 mins

I used a base from:

It's cute but I think you should try drawing without a base. Also might wanna add some shading too.

Thank you! But I am trash. Bases help me. er- when I free hand I don't like it.

However ive always wanted to learn how to shade better- any tips?

like maybe make the ends of the clothing more visible (the shirt looks like it's part of her skin).

And yeah, not using bases after a while can be hard and frustrating, but the sooner you stop, the sooner you'll improve :)

I'd say start with shading under the hair that goes on their face. Never shade with black; always shade with a darker version of the color your shading is on top of.

Well, black can be used in some cases. but it probably is a good idea to use a darker version of the color you're coloring over.

Since that base isn't of your own creation, it comes off as very weird to me to auction her off.

The design looks interesting, but I'd appreciate it a lot more if it weren't drawn on a base tbh.

this looks very cute! as others have already mentioned, i wouldnt use someone's base when selling a drawing, unless the artist gives permission to do so. tracing is a way you can get used to drawing proper anatomy and such, but this is just a form of practice and the art drawn from it shouldn't be sold. im not sure if you're requesting critique, but it looks a bit unfinished. perhaps you could thicken up the lines a little and include more defined shading/lighting

The lines, imo, should be as thin as the base lines and black.

Also, I'm assuming you're auctioning off the character design, not the actual drawing. Never sell something that uses someone else's base unless they give you explicit permission. (I checked the deviantart, and in the rules it states that you cannot sell drawings using that base).

Yeah. I think it means the base by its self: because it says i can sell the desgin on the base for $$ or points.
