Time travel (grass) question/advice

My birthday was last month and I forgot to go to Club LOL for my birthday song. PLUS I have a ton of grass deterioration that I'd like to fix.

I was thinking I could TT to the Saturday before my birthday (7/13) and get my birthday song, then TT back to the current day (8/23), and my grass would improve.

I've never really TT'ed before though, so I wanted to ask more experienced TT'ers if that sounds like it would work..? I have the beautiful town ordinance, so I'm not worried about weeds or wilted flowers. One of my villagers is apparently moving (she hasn't mentioned it to me yet), and I'm fine with her leaving. My shops shouldn't upgrade, because I haven't met the requirements yet.

Does my plan sound okay? Would it be better to TT forward all at once (from 7/13 to 8/23 all in one jump), or is it better to go forward a day or two at a time?

Most people traveling to fix their grass usually do it in one big jump. You already have the beautiful town ordinance, so you don't have to worry about the weeds that come with it. Hopefully only that one villager will move, but you will lose some friendship with your town villagers (and get a case of bed-head).
