I'm so desperate to get all the reactions I can, but I'm so attached to the animals I have now that I'm having trouble picking which one is going to be swapped out :(

Anyone have any tips for making the choice easier? 😭

(rn I'm working with Lily, Coco, Kiki, Fuchsia, Chevre, Fauna, Pippy, Ruby, Bob, and Chai & I absolutely refuse to get rid of Coco/Kiki/Bob)

I take it that means you have filled all 10 slots but dont have all 8 personalities?

Each personality has a type A and a type B.
This effects the things they say (slightly)

Why don't you compare your residents to see if you have any duplicate sub types?

I didn't even know sub-types were a thing

I have amiibo cards so I'm assuming I can just bring a villager back with the card, but idk if that'll reset them or not as well

Sometimes I've bought amiibos of villagers I've had so if I let them go and change my mind, I know I can always get them back.

If you bring them back, do they essentially act like a whole new person or does the game remember that you had them before?

Its not the prettiest document in the world but it lists who's got what sub personality

Also if you let them leave and come back they won't remember you so you will need to regain friendship from scratch

Oh wow that's super helpful! Ty!

Unfortunately they don't remember you and act like a new villager. It's basically like a reset.

The exception is if some adopts that version of your villager and then you adopt them back, but that requires finding someone to hold your villager. (edit: see replies below, I'm not exactly sure how it works)

I think they only remember you while they're on that person's town.
When you invite them back they act like they're moving somewhere new and the friendship starts from nothing again.

But it feels a lot nicer! Haha

Oh interesting, I haven't done it personally so I wasn't sure exactly how it worked.

It seems you ended up with a lot of female peppy/normal characters, which is fair cause they're all so cute lol. But you'll probably need to take a look at some jock/smug or cranky personalities to help change things up a bit. Have any of your current villagers given you their framed photo? You could let those ones go and put the photo up in your house to remember them by. At least that's what I did.

Most of the villagers I have atm I got cause those were what I had in childhood on Wild World, but I've got a few amiibos for other personality types. First up is Stinky (jock) but I'm trying to figure out who to replace. I've gotten Chevre and Pippy's photos, but now that I'm looking at the sub type personalities, I'm maybe gonna choose based on that

I seem to have an abundance of Normal type B with Education hobbies lol

I have no tips, because I have the same problem.

I started getting amiibo cards from sellers on Etsy and stuff. I have a much easier time letting a villager go, if I know I can get them again later. But I have been dreamie hunting, trying to get characters I don't have cards for. I wanna try an experience having as many of them as I can, but then I get attached again. So now I need more amiibos. Hahaha I wish they would make amiibos for the new characters. I haven't tried seeking them out, because I will not want to let any go. I have Reneigh. She was one of my starters. She has an ugly starter house and it would be nice to make way for new characters, but I love her and it would be harder to get her again. The stuggle is real.

Have you considered letting her move out to a friends island, and then having the friend move them back to yours?
You would lose your friendship level with reneigh but you would have the actual house instead of the starter one

Can you only get a limited number of reactions from your residents?
Each personality has different reactions to teach you. So if you don't have all 8 personalities you won't get all the reactions.

My only advice for you is to choose your least favorite out of all your current villagers. In my own experience I also had a hard time in doing this as I was also attached with my past supposedly "permanent" lineup for my island, but once I let go of one of my old villagers and replaced then with someone new that I also really liked, I was actually quite happy since now I have new villagers roaming around my island, which is honestly a breathe of fresh air, and now I was able to let go of 3 of my old villagers. The start is always the hardest, but once you let go of one, the next ones would be easier for you.

If you want to make your decision objectively, you will only let them go after getting their village portrait. (And that's also assuming that you already unlocked all reactions from that personality.)

Other than that, it's always a daunting task to make someone move out. It's all up to you now.

With how fast ypu can build friendship in this game, I'd replace someone you can invite back in with a card later. I did it wity one of my starting villagers to give her her real house interior and after a few days it was like she never left.
