It seems like people these days are waaay too cautious about there towns. What I mean is that it seems like everyone has super strict rules for their town when on wifi. Things like no running, no walking on grass, no taking fruit, no buying from nooks without permission, etc, ect, ect....

Maybe I'm just stupid... but is there anyone else who agrees?

I admit, I have these rules in my town, but that's only to keep it looking good, since some other people don't seem to care about their towns and just run everywhere, killing flowers etc...

I disagree. There's the issue of grass disapperaing, so people don't want visitors to run around, killing grass and flowers. And there's the whole Golden Can thing.

Yeah, say if it were raining and you invited some friends over to catch a coelacanth, and you see one so you cast your rod out, and then someone comes running up to you and scares it...

I agree with ackid9 I have rules to. I don't want my flowers or grass dieing. I want a golden can!! And I want to have one of the best towns in animal crossing!!!

A lot of players do have some rules, comes down to basic respect for anothers property, yes it may be virtual, but people spend many hours making their town to their liking.

There are players that make towns to host games etc, where the rules you mention are not important, so it comes down to finding like minded players.

About running and visitors over wifi -

1. visitors do not wear your grass, but you the owner of the town can still wear it.
Everytime you wifi its a save and reload of the game - so you as the owner of the town will wear your grass again, but your visitors do not cause any wear.

2. Running causes no more wear than walking. But it can take out the flowers.
You can run on designated paths with no problems at all.
Not quite the same as running everywhere with free abandon, but better than not at all.

I'm not 100% certain this info is correct, I'm nearly sure it is, and is partly from an earlier thread on this board.

Grass doesn't disappear/wither on wi-fi :p .

True...true...

But still, I have paths in my town, cause I like to run around a lot. And I have flowers everywhere, so if I WiFi and people run around, it kills my precious hybrids.

I believe visitors should always respect the host player's rules.
If the host is being "too cautious," well that is a price for admission to their town.

Grass is recoverable (it's not permanently gone), and hybrids can be replaced, so some "wear and tear" from visiting is not "the end of the world."

I'm most protective with my Gold Roses.

Solution: Hacking.

Some people have worked hard on their towns and don't want anything to happen to it. That's all.~

don't run.

anything past that is BS.

flowers are serious business if hybrids.
I know the feeling. I have a LOT of hybrids in my town (all homegrown of course) and I'm very protective of them
