Tool HP and Customization

I've had a fishing rod last ALL day yesterday after customizing it with the paint every now and then. Did I use it too little, or does customizing your tools "regenerate" the amount of times tools can be used without it breaking? Has anyone else done the same thing and gotten the same results?

I've noticed that too! Perhaps customizing it often renews the amount of uses it has, thus not needing to keep crafting up new ones.
Handy albeit I never keep track of how much I've been using a tool and it breaks anyway.

Maybe. You should be able to upgrade the flisy tools when they're nearly dead to regenerate the life of the tool.

Also, you can sell things like an iron fishing rod with 1 use left to Nook's for 600 bells. That's pretty good considering a Sea Bass will only sell for 400.

I haven't tested it yet, but this may be a good idea for watering cans.

Looks like my thoughts were true, it seems that customization indeed resets the amount of hits a tool has given back to 0. The main downside to this is that customization kits cost 600 bells, but honestly I would take that over going around regathering materials for another tool.
