Trade Center Question...

So, I leave my Chatot in there...and do what? Do I stay at the Trade Center and just stare at the screen until an offer pops up, or do I leave the Trade Center and keep checking back every now and again? How long might it take?

How will it let me know when someone wants to trade with me?
