So I have a 3ds xl and am running low on space. I have a 32 gb micro sd with adapter which I was saving for the new 3ds xl. Can I copy data from my 4 gb sd card to the micro sd card then later transfer data to the new 3ds xl? Also how do you copy data between sd cards?

Since if I transfer from a 32 gb to a 4gb which is in the new 3ds, wouldn't I be downgrading my space? This is confusing. :p I'm gonna buy the new 3ds after several months.

You would definitely be downgrading for sure if you go from 32 to 4. I think the only way if at all to transfer data is using your computer, taking all the data from one card, pasting it on a folder on your computer, and then putting it on the other. Not sure if it works like that but hey, it's worth a shot. Also if your computer doesn't have a port for it, you're gonna need a microSD adapter. Those can be found at common computer shops or stores like Walmart and target.
Although, in your last part of the post you said you're going from 4 gb to 32gb, but in the first part you said 32 gb to 4gb. So I'm kinda confused. Sorry if this doesn't help much, I just woke up so my thoughts aren't being processed well enough
Edit: grammar and spelling at 6 am is irrelivent. Sorry if I confused you.

I know how to transfer data with my computer so I was going to transfer data from the 4 gb to the 32 gb micro since I'm running low on space but when I system transfer, wouldn't I have to system transfer to the standard 4 gb micro?

most likely, that sounds like something you'd have to check on nintendo's site or contact their customer service or what not about. i've never done a system transfer before so i'm sorry i cant be of much help, i thought you meant transferring from SD to SD. must've been because it was so early in the morning.

What I did was performed a system transfer. Once that was done I turned off both systems, then transferred my data from my old SD to my 32GB microSD. Finally I replaced the standard microSD with the 32 GB one and boom. Worked perfectly for me.
