I have two islands; really, two Nintendo Switches.
On my first island, the starting Jock is Teddy.
I recently moved the bear from my first island to my second island.
I have since moved him back.
When Teddy moved to the second island, his generic house turned into his real house. He brought that with him back to the first island.
I like Teddy. He is loyal. And he is one of the best Jocks.
I also changed the first island’s date, as I prepared to welcome back Teddy, to the beginning days of “New Horizons” (March 20, 2020).
What this did was change the order in which islanders are listed. They are listed in seniority order (by game date). Teddy was No. 1 before his move. With his return, he is back to No. 1.
In “New Leaf,” the slots were a numbers thing. In my first town Applewin, No. 1 was originally for starting Cranky kangaroo Walt. He moved. Then it became the slot for Lazy horse Clyde. Eventually, it became tops for Lazy bear cub Stitches. Plenty of villagers were established before Stitches. But he followed Clyde. And it is now No. 1 with Stitches.
I think this “New Horizons” trick is pretty cool. If you like one or both of your starters (a Jock and an Uchi), and you have two islands going, and you want the real house (rather than the generic), you can get what you want by orchestrating some moves.
