Troubles with multiplayer

Hi guys!
A quick Q about multiplayer via online dodo code and friendcode - it has been mentioned to me that they cannot connect to me however my internet connection is strong. I have never used the online function before for either ACNL or ACNH so i have no idea what could be happening or if i have set anything up incorrectly??
Any ideas would be welcomed

I used to have connection problems in this game. I got errors pretty often when I tried to open my gates or visit specific people. It has been working fine since the latest update though, haven't really changed anything.

How odd! There’s usually an error code in the top left corner when you can’t get a connection, have you tried googling the code?

I will have a look for a code next time this happens, but it does mention something about connection. Very odd considering it is strong. I have just successfully had someone over via dodo code so it has worked once, hope for the best it is fixing.

Is it the NAT traversal error? I get it with only one of my friends, the code being 2618-0513

I just dont understand why it only works with certain people... like if we are paying for a service to go online shouldnt it work with everyone...? Or have i got the wrong idea about this?
