Trying to resist the amiibo cards

I know some people don't like it, but I really like HHD. And the more I play it, the more I kinda wish I had the cards for the special characters so I can make houses for them. But that feels like a slippery slope, since I'd get regular villager cards in the packs too and that would make me want to collect those.

Anyone else who isn't collecting the cards feel the same?

Just come over to the dark side...we have cookies....no, amiibo cards. And they are shiny, literally :)

Once I get my Series One deck complete, I am going to do a giveaway of all my doubles (and some triples)
I thought it would be a nice gift for someone who is just starting out to collect ❤️
I have at least five Special cards and approx 20 assorted Reg to give away :p

I actually prefer the normal villager cards to the NPCs~
Although they're special characters, they don't have any specific house request, just "I'll leave it up to you!"

I like to have some sort of theme to go by.. or else I get overwhelmed with imagination .. xD
(they are shiny though.. oooh 0.0)

^ The reason I don't care about the normal villager ones as much is I'm patient. I don't mind waiting for them to show up outside the office. So the only things those cards would get me is inviting particular people to a house and setting roles for shops, etc. It feels a bit less useful.

I know the special characters don't have particular requests, but I know exactly how I'd decorate a lot of their houses. Like for Timmy and Tommy I would use the various rooms to recreate all of the incarnations of the Nookling shops. For Reese I would recreate Re-Tail and for Cyrus, I'd make his house look like a refurbishing workshop. Also, you actually get items with the special characters that you can't normally get in-game (Isabelle's scooter and most of the special character pictures).

Yep that's true. I've had the luck of not meeting any of my amiibo card characters in game yet, so I guess that's a plus, didn't feel like I was repeating them or buying them for nothing haha

I have about 7 special character cards, and they've all unlocked at least one special item with each of them.
I know what you mean about designing their houses, some of them I have ideas for, like Joan, I made hers a turnip field/modern wood themed house. And Luna, I made the Dream Suite xD
Just takes a bit more creativity for me :p

On my birthday, I was looking for amiibos for the game, but they didn't have it. When I asked the guy at the counter, he said I can reserve the amiibo packs. The problem was the pack was the one which came with the Amiibo festival amiibo. I reserved it anyways :p Great job Mega.

How many houses can you decorate in the base game without the amiibo cards? I sort of thought the amiibo cards were just a way to get more houses to decorate that weren't already in the game.

I would say it is a slippery slope indeed -- I completed series one already (assuming all my trades arrive!) and when I found cards in the wild yesterday it was all I could do to not grab a pack or two. AND I DON'T EVEN NEED THEM.

That said, I love having the cards -- the special characters are really fun to decorate for and they do give you cute stuff. If you want to just work on those, there are always people who will trade special cards for 2-3 regular villagers, so you could use your regulars just to trade for specials.

You can decorate all of the non-DLC regular villagers in the base game without amiibo cards. I haven't done them all yet, but it's 300-something.

So the cards unlock items?

Yeah I'm having fun collecting the cards and trading for cards that I need.
