So I've been waiting for Chops to move out for ages because not only am I not that keen on him, but his house is exactly where I want my cafe! I've been patiently waiting for him to move and he won't. I tried thinking of a new place to put my cafe but I don't want it anywhere else.
Again this morning after yet another character wanted to move that wasn't Chops, that now makes four, I've decided to TT him out.

I have never TT'd before and so some advice on the best way of doing this would be great,

Thanks

How do you plan to travel. Day by day? Weeks? Months? The smaller steps you take the more control you'll have over other villagers moving out and new villagers moving in.

- Get Beautiful Town ordinance to keep weeds away. Travel 1 day ahead to get it enacted first.
- Water wilted flowers before it is enacted or they might still die.
- Accept that you might lose other villagers in the process. (or check them each day)
- Accept that new villagers might put their house in a place you don't want.
- Accept that your turnip selling price will be lowered as punishment for travelling
- Accept that villagers might rumour about you travelling.
- You might miss important mail if your mailbox is full.
- You will receive interest from the bank when you pass the 1st day of a month.
- Make sure you don't have any turnips in your possession when you start travelling.

Other than that I don't see any major side effects. With the Beautiful ordinance you'll also get more flowers. Every day you login and save will be counted as 1 day for your town, regardless of how many real days you travelled ahead. This might cause new main street buildings to open.

You get interest from the bank only if you tt using the ds settings for date/time changes, not when you use the ingame date/time change. :) I find the ingame change quicker, so I don't make any money tt'ing. The maximum amount of interest you can collect at one time from the bank is 99k

Do it carefully esp if you have villagers that you don't want to lose. I tend to do a day at a time. Go around and see if anybody pings you to inform you that they're leaving. If nobody does, I would speak to at least 3 villagers until they get bored (and refuse to speak to you any further). Go ahead another day and do the same again. Eventually someone will either ping, or tell you a rumour that someone else leaving.

It takes 5 days for a villager to leave, from the time they start planning it - so as long as you spam talk to at least 3 villagers a day, it is very unlikely that you'll miss a rumour.

Good luck. If you do a quick thread search, there are quite a few guides on here that people have made that have really helped me when I first started TT-ing c:

Thanks for the tips guys! Will need to be careful as I do have villagers that I don't want to move! Which is the best way through the DS or through the game?

I never touch the game time, only the DS time through Settings. Unless you play other games in between that are affected by time than you should change it through Isabelle.

Ok so it's taken all evening but I finally got Chops to tell me he is leaving! He has told me he will leave on the 29th. Can I just TT to that date now or do I have to go day by day? Once I TT to him in boxes is that then it? Can I go back and he will be gone?

Yay well done! You can TT backwards to the current date (if you want) in one swoop. TTing backwards always just counts as one day c:

In fact it went better than expected. Chops is out, my other villagers are all safe and happy, had a couple of hybrids appear and unbelievably when I got back to today who was in my camp but Static!

I was naughty and took him in even though its taken me up to 3 crankies and 3 squirrels!

I know can't believe how well it went! Tempted to buy a second copy now and TT even more!

I guess this is a kind-of sort-of hijack, here. Sorry!

But, please tell me, Siren137, how long did this really take? You did say all evening, but how exactly did you do this? See, I want to get Apple out of my village for someone here and also Zell for someone else. I really want to give these great people their dreamies, but today I did the one day at a time thing and got ZIP. I now have 9 settled villagers and had one in the campsite who refused to move in.

I went as far as 5 days, but when nothing still happened (that I know of at least, and I spam-talked a few villagers) I went back to today's date and gave up for the time being.

What did you do? How? And anyone, please, how long SHOULD this take? I'm beginning to sweat all over again here so any help would be really appreciated!

How about a few quick tips/answers, such as -

Do you do little quests or not? Say yes and don't do them, or do you have to to get anywhere? Do you buy or sell anywhere at all? Do you just run around and try to talk to villagers and that's it...or...what? I really wish I could find a guide to answer this sort of newbie stuff that goes thru your head while you are trying to learn.

Hi!

I think I started TTing around 6pm and finished at about 10:30pm. I did stop for my dinner in between time and was also watching TV so I wasn't concentrating on it the whole time.
What I did was to go forward one day, talk to all the villagers I could find, I would talk to the ones outside until they wouldn't talk to me anymore. I would then save and quit and TT forward two days. I then wandered around my town to see if anyone pinged me, if not I would talk to the outside villagers again until they wouldn't talk and find the others and talk to them real quick. Then rinse and repeat, so save and quit TT two days and do it again. It takes time to do it properly and really find all the villagers and talk to them but its worth it as they don't get annoyed at not seeing you for days!
If anyone asked me to do something for them, depending on what it was I may do it. So if they wanted me to deliver something I would as it is quick and easy to do and keeps them sweet. If they want a fish catching then its a no as it would take up too much time.
I think I had 4 villagers that I didn't want going anywhere ping me to say they were moving but I just told them to stay, which they did. I only ever moved two days forward at most as you can catch anyone thinking of moving and therefore don't lose them.

Hope that helps!

I cycle my second village. I've found that a bullhorn is useful for locating the villagers quickly. Unless your French is terrible and you can't pronounce Chevre in a way the game will recognize... >.> ^_^

It can be so nerve wracking when 5 days have passed and nobody has mentioned leaving  But as long as you've covered all your bases, it should be ok. I tend to say 'no' to quests, it's better for friendship than saying 'yes' and not doing it. Might be also worth filling your pockets with flowers and have little money so they don't try to sell/buy stuff fr you.
