So...I just thought of something, on how to TT without losing villagers.

Let's say you want to TT a week ahead. The biggest consern is losing your villagers!
But what about this:

-Set the desired time on your DS.
-Start the game with a New Character and check if all houses are still there.
-If not ---> Quit game and set the date a few days back, try again.
-if yes ---> check inside all the houses. (If a villager is in boxes, he will be home.)
-If a villager is in boxes, quit the game and set the date a day before (and convince villager to stay)
-if nobody is in boxes, quit game and start with Mayor. Play.

I have not tested this yet! But it seems logical...
Correct me if I'm wrong.

But with the villager in boxes, If you were to TT back a day they would be gone as TT back counts as one day.

I'm fairly certain that this method works. I once started as a new player in a town since it had been a while, and when I saw that a villager had moved (their house was gone completely) I went back about a week and tried again as a new character. The house was back and the villager was roaming around as usual, so I knew I could start the day as the mayor.

It's a good method for time traveling short spans or starting up your game after a long break, but for other things like making a villager move out or trying to get certain things from a shop other methods might be better.

Huh, that's interesting!
(I'll have to try that..)

I usually don't go willy nilly and jump a week without thinking about my villagers. I time travel around 3 days and then check if anybody's moving. Then move back or whatever I'm doing.

You can also just TT forward 1 day at a time and run around really quick to see if anyone pings about moving or see if anyone's talking about someone moving. It only takes a few minutes per in-game day to do that. That's probably the safest method.

I tried that today and one of my villagers announced they were moving. Not the one I'd hoped for but still...:D

This is what I do! I have never lost a villager!
