How do you deal with this, its so frustrating? :( Its christmas so ive been SUPER busy with family and finishing up work before break. I didnt turn on my ds for 2 days...just two days, and now Whitney is moving - ALREADY in boxes?! She *never* told me she was moving, never pinged me for anything other and wanting fruit or my items, and there were never any rumors of her moving. I'm really upset. Sigh.

aww im sorry for your loss :( to make sure she gets a good home post in the plaza... there are alot of good people that will take her, i even know some people would want her as a dreamie just because of that movie.

You have my condolences. One of my favorites, Eugene, decided to leave without telling me as well. A good way to prevent most unnecessary villager move outs is to write down or save a document to keep track of the last day you played. Regardless of your feelings on time travel, you can go back to the last day you played and then work your way back up to the actual date. I'm personally pro-time travel in this game, but even if you're not, it's really helpful to prevent these situations.

To add onto what ZombifiedHorror said, you need to go back to the last day you played in your SYSTEM SETTINGS and not in the game settings. Time traveling any amount of days in the in-game settings will only accelerate them moving... trust me :/

I've only ever messed around with the in-game clock, not the one on the 3DS itself. As long as you go back to the last day you played, nothing will happen because it will still count as the same day. I've gone literally months without playing the game and came back using my method and nothing's gone wrong.

I suppose I ought to clarify. Don't go back one day, then the next, then the next. Go directly back to the last date played. While statlightsong is correct about time travel backward only speeding up their departure, once a villager is in boxes, there's nothing you can do anyway.

This is just a preventative measure for the future.

That happened to me with Shari. Sometimes a villager won't tell you that they're moving until shortly before it happens. Whitney was probably planning it several days before you left your game for a while and never mentioned it. :(

Hopefully you can get her back soon!

That happened to me with Rudy. He never pinged. I had a villager tell me Poncho was thinking about moving but he never pinged either. Luckily that time I saved and quit and then started the game up again and he pinged that time.

I was about to go make a thread to give her away, and she is already gone. I had to go out to do some last minute shopping and when I returned the day had rolled over and she is now gone :( My clock is set a little wonky due to my hours.
I had just gotten her presents and something she asked for in her home. Sighhh.
I wish there was a way to lock your town in these situations. Like, go to Isabelle and say 'I'm taking a vacation! I'll be back in x days." - in this time villagers can't move out...or any other major events happening without you.

Oh well I guess. Thank you everyone. I'm just going to go whine to myself. :(
AT LEAST IT WASNT FLURRY. Bright side.

Oh Flurry has become one of my favorites. Mine is sick right now. Trust me I am happy for you that it wasn't Flurry!

Aw I'm sorry that happened. Sometimes villagers will just move out without any warning. I definitely never realised when Roscoe was in boxes and then I came back and he was gone and I had a leaving letter from him. He never pinged.
