Um, having I been doing this right?

Every time someone makes a post, there's this thumbs up symbol that appears on the post below their avatar space. Now, what I've assumed this was was a 'like/thank' button. ...And I've been clicking it under that assumption.

After been here near a week, I'm beginning to wonder if I'm actually THUMBING DOWN people's posts, because when you click the symbol, that's what appears. =c ...I know this is probably a no-brainer question, but can someone lemme know if I'm liking posting correctly? ...I feel like I may've came off like an ass or something. .n.;
