Unexpected Villager??

So... Yesterday, I had nine villagers in my town, and when I turned on my game this morning, I saw that Dotty had made a plot of land in my town.

The thing is... I didn't adopt Dotty, nor did I get her from my campsite. I don't even think I got her from a Streetpass, because the last person I Streetpassed with was my nephew, which was a few weeks ago, and he's never had Dotty in his town before. Now I'm really confused... Why is Dotty suddenly moving into my town and taking up my 10th villager spot? Is there something that I'm missing here?

Have you visited any towns recently ? If so then the person who you voided may have voided her and the game passed her on to you! I gave Oate to another person yesterday! Dotty is a great villager ! I just missed a giveaway for her actually :/

Hmm... Well, I don't recall going to anyone's towns recently. I'm active on another forum, and I asked a few people who I might have been in contact with there, and they all said that they've never had Dotty. I did, however, have someone over at my town last night to pick up an item... Is it possible that I got the data from him when he came over? I didn't go to his town, though...

I'm actually not all that mad about it, because Dotty is pretty adorable. ^.^ I've never had a bunny before, and I love peppies. I'm just confused because it was so unexpected.

That usually happens when I have eight villagers. I'm really happy that I got Bam today at random. I'm hunting for deer. It might have been that whoever came to your town had dotty moving out.

It's just weird, 'cause I had nine villagers... I guess it had to have come from that person, then, because I can't think of any other way I could have gotten her. Congrats on getting Bam today, though, he's a cutie. <3

That's probably where she came from, any wifi connection can transfer a recently voided villager whether you visit them or they visit you.

You'll know for sure soon, because once she's moved in she'll tell you about her old town and mayor on and off.

How long after getting your 9th, did this 10th villager show up? I'm scared of this 10th crushing my flowers but I don't want to start the game every single day by making a new character just for the sake of checking for new villagers.

If you have 9 villagers this can happen any time you streetpass or wifi. There's no wait period or anything. I learned my lesson when Puck destroyed almost all my perfect cherries. Now if I have 9 I try to move someone in immediately or I am super-careful to not wifi or pick up a streetpass.

I always like to have 10 because of the mystery move in. I do the reset trick because they choose the weirdest spots to move in. I had 2 reset 4 times to get Freya into a decent spot.

Yeah... I've had a villager from Streetpassing before, happened when I took my 3DS with me to the zoo. I just always thought that it could only happen through Streetpassing, it never occurred to me that WiFi could trigger it as well. I'm very glad that I got a cute villager, though, instead of someone I really didn't like... Though, I do wish she hadn't taken down one of my pear trees, haha.
