If you live in the United States or have visited there before, what travel suggestions do you have for people who aren?t from the US, but wish to visit the US? You may use this thread to give suggestions.

Here is a questionnaire so you can write your suggestions:

  • What states do you recommend traveling to? Why?
  • What states do you recommend avoiding? Why?
  • What are some good features about the United States?
  • What are some bad features about the United States?
  • What is the best attraction in the United States?
  • Would you recommend moving there? Why or why not?
  • What other suggestions do you have?
Keep in mind that posts that do not have this questionnaire are considered off-topic, and if you have never visited the United States, don?t post here.

I live in Ohio and I've personally never been to the western US, but the eastern states are really nice, like Tennessee, the Carolinas, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, etc. I would definitely recommend Tennessee because the weather is always really nice there and it's a great place for sightseeing (it's next to the Appalachians so lotsa big hills n stuff).

In terms of what to avoid, I think it depends on personal taste. I really don't like big cities so I would probably avoid places like Cincinnati/Columbus/Cleveland OH, Nashville TN, New York City NY, etc. I would definitely avoid high crime cities, like Cleveland OH.

One of my favorite things about the US is the scenic countryside. I've heard that the west is absolutely beautiful, especially around Utah/Nevada where the Rockies meet the flat plains. (Also the endless cornfields of the midwest are always a sight to see). In terms of bad stuff, it's really just the political atmosphere that bothers me. If you're only coming to sightsee then definitely come.

I've never traveled outside the US so I can't really give travel tips, but there's definitely a lot of cool stuff to see here! :D

at states do you recommend traveling to? Why?

What states do you recommend avoiding? Why?

What are some good features about the United States?
Statue of libert and the railway variations
What are some bad features about the United States?
Tentions with iran
What is the best attraction in the United States?
Statue of liberty and grand Central terminal (read my review of grand Central terminals https://rail-record.co.uk/a-look-around-nys-grand-central-terminal/)
Would you recommend moving there? Why or why not?
Concerns about Iran so I wouldn't move there
What other suggestions do you have?
USA is a nice place.

What states do you recommend traveling to? Why?
Honestly it really depends on what you are looking to do.
New Orleans is amazing! It has great seafood and a really busy atmosphere!
Florida is a popular vacation spot. Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure are my favorite theme parks I have ever been to! They have the Harry Potter World and if you are a Harry potter fan, it's really worth the visit!
New York is a popular choice. Broadway is amazing and again it's another busy atmosphere.
I enjoy the west coast a lot, so places like Cali, Oregon and Washington. There is a lot of beautiful nature out there!
What states do you recommend avoiding? Why?
Most of the mid-west! Sorry mid-west, but it's just so boring! It's very flat and there really isn't anything besides farm fields. And some of the states are so big/long it can really take awhile just to travel across them!
What are some good features about the United States?
The US is very unique. So many parts of our country are so vastly different from each other! I have lived in the south, out west, the north and now the mid-west and it's like living in a different world each time! People are so different, accents are so different, food is different! It's kinda crazy!
What are some bad features about the United States?
Big cities have a lot of crime.
What is the best attraction in the United States?
This one is hard to answer. Again, it really depends on what you are looking for! We have a lot of great cities, malls, theme parks, and nature!
Would you recommend moving there? Why or why not?
It's the only place I have ever lived so it's hard for me to say. Honestly I would like to live in a different part of the world but the grass is always greener on the other side!
What other suggestions do you have?
Try lots of food! We have some crazy stuff here! Explore! There is a lot to do and see here!
