Apologies if this has been asked before, but I've searched for awhile and can't find the specific answer I'm looking for.

My partner and I have been playing ACNH since release day on the same Switch. We just ordered a Switch Lite last night. We both want to be able to have our own islands, but we don't want to lose any of the progress we've made on our island together. Our goal is to keep as much in tact as possible, but she is frustrated she doesn't/won't have access to things like construction and terraforming.

Our plan is to do a user transfer on to the new Switch. Will doing that destroy our island? I am the primary and I will be staying on the old Switch, but will removing my partners profile from the system remove her from the island as well?

To clarify, we are not trying to transfer our island to a new Switch, just make sure our current one isn't destroyed.

Thanks in advance!

I'm not 100% but I think she would be okay, I made a temp. account once to try to unlock a feature and even though i deleted the account the data was still in the game. im not sure how she would play thougj

OK, that makes me feel better. That does make sense since Animal Crossing doesn't appear anywhere on the user transfer screen. I hope that since I'm the resident representative and I'm staying put that everything will remain in tact.

Just to add a note here; if you load your file up on the old switch after the profile has transferred over and their tent/house remains on the island, you might have to go through in-game settings to have it removed! this user had an issue where the second user's tent was still in the game. The issue was eventually resoled (through in-game settings!)

Best of luck!

The island will be fine. If the profile is deleted from the switch you wont be able to play as that character despite it still being in the town. but if you add the profile back it should be fine
