Villager asked to move out but won’t leave?

This has happened to me twice in a row now where a villager has asked to move out but hasn’t been in boxes afterwards. This happened first with Groucho and again with Katt, and neither of them moved out after a few days and I told both of them they could go. Now I am worried that no villagers are going to leave my island, so I can’t go island hopping, which I miss. Does anyone know how to fix this or why this is happening? Thanks <3

Did you maybe not save the game after you confirmed their quest to move out or did you somehow time travel backwards preventing the move process? If you do any of that it might explain why the next day the villager who asked to move out didn't go through and if you somehow time travel backwards when the villager confirmed about moving out it will cancel the process and restart the move out process.

No problem just remember next time when you confirm a villager that is about to move out. Save the game and quit. Time travel a day ahead and then they will be in boxes.
